Anybody else listen to Townes? Rick? Danny? One of my favorites. "Pancho and Lefty", "To Live Is to Fly", "If I Needed You"-great stuff.

I'm not familiar. The Van Zandt name is all over though. Lynrrd Skynnrd, Steve Van Zandt. Are they all related?

No. Townes was a Texas folkie. He died a few years back. Lots of folks have covered his songs, Willie Nelson "Pancho and Lefty", The Cowboy Junkies "To Live Is To Fly", Lyle Lovett "If I Needed You". Jim sez check it out.

Another Texan of the same ilk would be Billy Joe Shaver! I happen to be a big fan of Van Zandt and his music. Jerry Jeff Walker, Willie, Waylon Jennings, Kinky Freidman, Michael Murphy, Commander Cody and Rusty Weir to name a few all covered their songs!

Having problems with the Post Message tab today! Another writer that comes to mind would be Ray Wylie Hubbard who wrote "Up Against the Wall Red Neck Mother"! There is some great music out of Texas and that group of singers/songwriters and probably Buddy Holley would have been the biggest of them all if not for the tragic plane crash!
