I bought two of the Radio Shack hygrometers at $23 a pop. They're model # 63-1036 and they are NON-adjustable. Just wanted to get that info out as I see them recommended here frequently. They no longer carry the adjustable type, this model replaces them. I've had it completely disassembled and there are no "pots" to tweak. And according to the infamous salt test, my analog is right on and this new digital is off +7%. So far I've only tested the one.

I wonder why all of you don't just buy a 100 gallon water trough and fill it with the green foam and then partially fill it with 50/50 PG solution. Your whole room will be a nice 70% humidity and you wont have to obsess with this issue so much.

It works great for me. Sometimes a cow wonders in so I put a trough of water out front so they can drink there. I Don't have to worry about overfilling it cause the dog drinks the excess.

Bought one today also. Mine is reading -7%. What a crock of s**t!! I did the salt test twice, just in case. My $3.00 spring one is more damn accurate!!! My first one (in my coolerdor) was a no name brand I got on eBay, that ones been dead balls right on the nose!!

Nice use of adjectives. Walmart sells a brand for about $15 - $17 that has the probe. Just don't bend the wire.

Testing, testing, testing the other one. I guess the accuracy is not that big of a deal as long as I know how much it's off. Though, that's a lot of math when I'm wasted.

don't bother with the math ... re-set the way you think ... if it's reading 7 low, just get used to looking for 63 ...

MrsS does that ... she sets the clock in the bedroom ahead 10 minutes, then snoozes the alarm because "it's not the REAL 6:30 yet" ...

Great heads up. I looked, and looked, and looked for these at 7 different Radio Shack stores. No one had them. Thank goodness. I ended up with a Diamond Crown which my local cigar store recommended. Works great!

If it says Radio Shack, take it back!

The ONLY thing I've ever got to work that I bought in that store is solder!
