Are they really that good ???

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say ... and taste in cigars is a pretty subjective thing as well ... I like those cigars, but think they are a bit overly expensive and don't get too many of them as a result ... but then, there are other highly regarded smokes I'd put in that same category ... several of my favorites are cigars lots of guys (both here and elsewhere) don't care all that much for ... but that doesn't limit my enjoyment of them one bit though ... give the Pinars a try and let us know what you decided YOUR answer is ... in the end, that's the only answer that really matters to you anyway

Tried a 5-pack of these in January of the year 01. They were advertised as made from 50 percent pre-embargo Cuban tobacco. They didn't seem consistant to me. Had a few that seemed really good and a few that seemed okay but they did kinda sorta taste Cuban.

I was very disappointed with the Pinars. I bought 10 at the same time in two auctions and there plainly visible inconsistencies between them. Lengths were off by at least 1/4 inch in many of them and the wrapper colors varied between a decent milk chocolate color to a greenish brown. Tried two and barely made it half-way through. Gave a couple away and put the rest in a humidor. Just tried another after about a month and it was smokable but not a $6-7 cigar. I'd rather stick with a nice inexpensive Mayorga or La Vieja Habana. To be fair to the other posters who have had some positive feedback, I may have received a bad batch or one that were improperly stored but I can't imagine the best of this lot even being close to a good cuban.

I found C-bid around 6 weeks ago. I got a couple 5-packs between $17-$21. Last couple of weeks these guys have been running $35-$45. I noticed this with several items also. Could this be because of the Holidays?? What is the trend for sales around this time of the year?
