I'm not trying to create some sort of cigar porn like ambiance, but while I was sitting here with my fireplace ablaze warmth radiating from the cast iron which surrounds the graceful flames enjoying the strong yet satisfying taste of my Onyx Reserve. I have to think what all we have to be thankful for on this, night before Thanksgiving. I have a good friend who lost his brother this year in Afghanistan his name was Stan Harrimen U.S. Army. His brother Shawn and I worked together, and smoked cigars together, before I transferred to the mountains of Virginia. Shawn was a Gulf War Vet another of his brothers severed during Operation Just-Cause in Panama and his Father served in Vietnam. Tomorrow lets remember all those who are away from their families and protecting our way of life. Armed Forces, Police, Correctional Officers, Firemen, and EMS all will be out standing tall for us. For those men and women I say thank you for protecting our freedoms. If not for them we would have much less to be thankful for.

We as a people like to opinionate our veiws of local, national and global events, our policies/ involvement, pro, versus, con, right to protest, to change things using our votes, and so on and so forth.

Regardless of the public or our individual opinion, all these heroes serve and most ask not why, but, serve out of loyality to their country. If not for them, we would not have our many exclusive privileges, only entitled to we Americans, along with our fredoms to voice our opinions with no worry of it's acceptance or popularity.

Well said Intel, we take things for granted too often, need to be thankful everyday to all the people that serve.

Yes, I come from a military family and did my time. I give thanks to all the other servicemen/women who serve this great country who many of us take for granted.

Out of curiosity did any of the individuals you named serve in the 82nd ARBN and were they infantry? I would assume they might be, because almost all of those engagements involved my former division and I might know one of them.

I am glad someone mentioned that Intel. Men and women have been protecting our way of life for as long as any of us can remember. It's this reason and more that many of us can sit in our homes and eat a feast today celebrating a voyage made in 1620. It's our way of life they are protecting so we can have the feeling of security to do.
