I'm curious. How many of you hate the holiday season and how many love it? It will suprise no one who's read any of my posts that I fall into the first category.

It's a great time of year! A lot of great memories are stirred over the holidays.

Over the weekend my family enjoyed watching the seasonal movies -- "White Christmas", "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and my personal favorite "Blue Christmas". Quite a change from the weekly standards CSI, Law and Order, The Practice.

besest time of the year. everything wrapped except for some things coming from online shopping. we are a little late this year, i try to get everything finished by halloween with a few leftovers by thanksgiving.

we are not really early birds because october is our year end for christmas wrapping every year. toby and i shop constantly and accumulate things all year round.

this year we found a wholesale store that has only goods from china at prices so cheap i thought i was a rich man, ya da da da da dum (dancing in circles). i can not believe the mark up. the whirly things that we , some of us, put in the yard and watch the wind spin them, are $15.00 in mos stores, here they were $3.00. if i can figure out the generator specs, i can run all my electricity from the 2 or 3 dozen that will sit in the yard. 7 piece star bit set for under $1.00.

we can't wait.

Before kids, I hated the season. Didn't hold much meaning except to have to run around all over the state and see everyone who needed me to "stop in". Usually involved getting a gift from someone I really didn't care for whom I never thought to shop for.

Now that I have a wife and kids, it has become special. It is a lot of joy to see their anticipation and to get to play Santa. The purpose of the season is not lost on them. I even integrate Hanukkah into the season. The kids enjoy it since (as they say) they get a present a day for a whole week.

It has regained it's special place for me since I have been able to see it through the eyes of children.

Lights are going up on the house tonight!
