I smoked my 1st Opus X cigar last night. It was a Perfexcion, it was one of the best cigars I have had. One of my local cigar shops got a box of Perfexcion's and Reserva D' Chateau's. I got 2 of each, cant wait to try the other one. If there is anyone on these boards who has not tried one of these cigars, I recommended you do. They are as good as the hype.

They are great cigars-------but pricey and I can come up with a lot of quality smokes for less money that are just as good when you consider the price!

Charlie, agreed. Not a bad cigar...but for the money...you can buy 2 or 3 that you will enjoy just as much, if not better.

I was in a cigar store in downtown SF yesterday ... they had several sizes of OpusX available, all priced at $22+ per stick and no limits on how many you could buy ...

Same store has a number of brands selling for less than $10 that I know from experience that I'd enjoy every bit as much as I would the OpusX ...

IMHO, at that rate, the OpusX is no more than an expensive novelty and frankly I'm gonna take the three excellent-but-far-less-expensive choices every time ...

I recently picked up six Opus X. I smoked a belicoso on Friday night and the other five will probably be gifted to friends and relatives. I like them as much as I like the Hemingway line but I don't find them to be that much better. So dollar for dollar I prefer Hemingways.

I do think that they are a great gift cigar. They are special, if for no other reason than the dificulty in finding them. A lot of my cigar smoking friends smoke low end $1-2 sticks on a regular basis and once in awhile treat themselves to a $5 cigar. They know the price of a cigar isn't always an indicator of how good it really is. So when they get an Opus as a gift they really appreciate it. I think it's something you should try if you haven't had the pleasure but agree there are equally good cigars for less money.

Steve I am sorry you live in a big city but I do not so the prices are not so high. The price for the Opus X was under $10 at the Cigar shop. I totally agree with you on the $22 price tag is too high. I am going to hang on to some off them until the birth of my 2nd child in about 7 months.

I've picked up ten so far this season. As I've stated before, $10 for the XXX belicoso, $12 for the robusto, #13 and change for both the toro(cedar wrapped) size and the super belicoso, and $15 for the torpedo. Not a bad price for a truly outstanding smoke.

I just cannot bring myself to pay the kinds of prices wanted for this cigar (yup, I won't even pay $10 for a stick, and I've turned others onto locations where they can get them for more reasonable prices - which are still too much for me). I can find plenty of high end quality cigars for much, much less money and am totally happy (I'm not fat yet? at least I don't think so). The most I've ever paid is $14 for a Padron Ann. in Manhattan (so I rationalized the price based on the locale) and it was good but not life altering. I really enjoy the Fuente Hemingway's and their Montesino line, so I suppose their high end cigars have got to be even better. I may never know. Perhaps you should send me one so I can find out. :)

Ive smoked 2 Opus-X's. They weren't as good as I expected. Maybe I heard SO MUCH HYPE that my expectations were set too high. I prefer the Padron Annaversario Maduro or Cameroon. Next I Love CAO's Annaversaries Maduro or Cameroon also. I think the CAO's are the best value pricewise. Mag

Most people pay more for a Red Dot Cohiba. At least you're getting a great smoke with the Opus and not a cuban wannabe. It's difficult to get any real savings with the Opus because they are hardly ever availble "by the box". Do yourself a favor and treat yourself once a year... you cheap ****!!

It's my favorite smoke. I've been on a mission and have been able to accumulate about 50 of them in various sizes. Trying to be able to fit one or two a week into my rotation and still have em around for a year
