I may be dumb, but how do you tell a regular Arturo Fuente from a Hemmingway just by looking?

I may be off, but I think one band has black on it and the other green.

I went to the AF website, and from what it looks like, you are correct. Thank you. I was curious, because we had a gift exchange, and the guy that drew my name got me 2 of the Hemmingways (black in the band). What a nice guy.

They have a black band but the regular Fuente sun grown and Don Carlos do too. The best way to tell is by the dark cameroon wrapper and the tapered (perfecto) foot which you light.

One is overpriced, one is absurdly overpriced.

a hemmingway , all sizes, short story, classic, signature and masterpiece all have the same tip at the foot. search the web for a picture and you will see. the bands on all of them are the same. hemmingway is just one style of cigar made by fuente. the masterpieces can run about $13,00 and will smoke nicely for almost 2 hours. they are always consistantly excellent. jr is that too much for the masterpiece?

For $13, I expect a reach-around.

Aren't Hemmingways the ones with a beard and a drinking problem?

The Hemmingway never really impressed me, actually I couldn't even finish it since it was so harsh. Of all the Fuente's that I have smoked, I have only really enjoyed the Double Chateau and Chateau Sun-Growns (if they're not sun-grown don't bother IMHO), and the Don Carlos line.

Other than that, I think their smokes are over-priced.

...black band color and twisted foot on the Hemingways. The Classic is my favorite smoke, not too anything, just right. And a flavor and aroma that remind me of my father and uncle smoking Cubans on the back porch at Christmas time. I've paid from just over $5 to just under $7 (on the net) and $8 (plus tax) at my local smoke shop. I can see someone might find them harsh. Just back off puffing and take a sip, you'll see what I mean.
