I've seen these lately and have been thinking about giving them a try. What do you think of them?

I got a 5 pack recently ... personally, I prefer a very full-bodied cigar, but as some of you are aware, MrsS also herfs once in a while and she prefers a mild-medium cigar ...

When she picked up her first Maxim last Saturday evening, I lit it for her and noted that it drew well and was extremely light-bodied ... as she smoked it and when finished, she observed that it had remained smooth and quite mild throughout, and it was my observation that it burned slowly and evenly ...

A good cigar if you like 'em light

My experience was the same as Steve's... a very easy, even draw with mild flavor... almost would consider it bland... good construction... great for someone just starting cigars or if you prefer them really mild.

I topped this one to see if anyone else has an opinion on these. Only a few people responded when this was first posted. Anyone tried these since this past summer? I'm looking for some mild cigars for a friend but I want something that has at least some taste to it.

Try the Fonseca Serie F. It's only "Fuerte" compared to other Fonsecas, but it steadily increases to med. strength with a very complex taste. The Fonseca Zigarren mit Zeder is another excellent choice. I think these are some of the best constructed cigars on the market.

Second what Steve had to say --

I have ordered and used several boxes of these. Great mild smoke. When properly humidified they draw well, burn even and are a good mild smoke.

Have a box each of the churchill and the torpedo left that are well aged -- to trade if anyone wants to try them!

Ditto, to most of the above.

I have a small supply of churchills, got better after smoking the first inch. I too like meduim to stronger cigars, but, this is nice change of pace, (also nice to have in the box for company that likes a lighter cigar), and for a buck a stick, how can you go wrong.

These are a great value for a good smoke. Very light and smooth. Great looking wrapper with quality leaves. have bought several 5-packs and a box for those that like mild cigars. Have found them to be even burn and nice draw.

I bought a five pack recently to give'm a try. I guess I'm a sucker for good advertising, and the CI description caught my eye. I was not impressed with the cigar. Although well constructed and mild, the flavor that it did have was not my cup of tea. Thats only my opinion, but I think you could do better for the same price.

I have to say that this is a pretty good cigar for the price. For the price it's one of my favorites.

Yesterday was my day to pick up some everyday smokes and some for the moochers who don't know the difference. I bid on 5 lots and won all 5. The highest I bid on any of them was $10. I got 2 of the Maxim 5 packs to try out. With shipping my total was $63. A pretty nice haul. I haven't tried the Filipinas or Tambor churchill but for less than 50 cents a stick they're worth a try.

Maxim's de Paris Omnibus - 5-Pack
Flor de Filipinas Cortado (25)
V Centennial Torpedo Maduro - 5-Pack
Tabacalera Tambor Churchill (25)
Sun-Grown Sampler Pack (5)

I love CBid

Have you ever smoked the V torpedo Maduro?? If so how was it, I was thinking about buying to add to my everyday type of cigar collection.

penzt8 --- if you want to try the one of the best light to medium bodied cigars I have ever smoked (I lean more towards full body cigars) ...

... get your hands on some Bucanero Windjammer (gold ring) el Natural. I'm not kidding, the are very tasty. I smoked the Robusto (the one I sent the picture in standing on its ash). It's well balanced with notes of pepper and spice, and finishes with a pleasant, sweet wood and cedar flavor.

It has become my favorite morning smoke ...

CulleyJC52 - I haven't had any maduros from the V Centennial line. I've got a couple of boxes of the naturals that have been sitting for a year or so in my cabinet. I'll be trying this sometime next week and if they're OK I might add a box to my reserves. I like the naturals when I feel like having a light smoke.

Slim - I had a couple of the Bucaneros about two weeks ago and enjoyed both of them. I've also been talking with Robert and John at Bucanero about getting their sticks in a local shop where I live. I only smoked two of the samples they sent and I passed the rest off to the guys at the cigar store to try. I think one of the sticks I smoked was an El Capitan and the other just had a plain label with "Bucanero" on it. Both were well constructed, burned well, had good flavor. I didn't detect any of the subtle flavors, but I rarely do. I will definitely be bidding on some of these in the future after the dust settles a little.

That 'plain' label will have either 'gold' or 'red' lettering, the 'gold' being the Windjammer el Natural and the 'red' lettering being the Classico maduro ... :^)
