I'm not a die-hard conservative, but do tend to lean right. I admit to having a particular hatred for Gore and everything he stands for. Having said that I think that most objective observers could agree that Al Gore represents all that is bad in politics, the quintessential politician who is nakedly open about saying anything to get a vote. Yes all politicians, like any salesmen, need to do that to a certain degree as it is just part and parcel of the job. But with a straight face this guy is king of panderers whether its a black church, soccer moms, whoever. His paternalistic "let me take care of your life, because you can't take care of yourself" slant is for lazy people who depend on others. Or as Phil Gramm says, for those who are riding in the wagon and not pulling it. The worst part is that some otherwise sensible people are voting for him because he just makes them "feel" better. How pathetic. And much has been made of how "smart" Al Gore is and what a swell debater he is. Do you want the nerd at the front of the class to lead this country? Not me. Yeah, so he can argue the fine points of the Dingell-Norwood bill and knows more about the greenhouse effect than GWB. Is that a leader? Many men were smarter than Lincoln, Reagan, TR, and other great presidents, each considered unfit for office before being elected. I want a leader with a big picture view and a vision. Why does everyone overlook that?
Of course I could be wrong.
