so long we used to have to put them in an envelope and mail pur posts to cbid. they would put them on a bulletin board and post a photo of the board. hence the picture board.

I found an old receipt from 10/00. That was the first bid I won I think. I'm not sure how long I lurked before taking the plunge.

CBider at least two years. (Two and a half or three maybe??) Don't visit the forum (or post) often enough. Since I have bid here RICKAMAVEN and Slimboli have been hero's of mine though.

LOL @ iquester ... smoked my first as a junior in HS ... not a half century ago, but a lot closer to that mark than I'd care to admit ...

Redneck 1 made an interesting observation about a couple of guys being heros to him ... I not only couldn't argue with him over that point of view, but would like to add to it a bit ... I doubt I could list all the names of those who meet that description for me here, even in the sort of long posts I too often make ... there are just too many of them and each is different from the other ...

what they all have in common though, is a love of cigars and I wanna take a second here to say, I think cigar smokers are special guys ... not special because they smoke cigars, but are special guys that have somehow become cigar smokers ... I think cigar smokers tend to be warm and gregarious, thoughtful and generous, intelligent and witty ... those who populate this board certainly reflect that description well ...

there's a wide mix of occupations and ages here, and some that have been here a very long time, as well as some who're still regarded as newbies ... but there's not a guy (or gal) here that I've come to know in my long period of lurking and posting, that I couldn't say as Redneck did ... have become heros to me ...

Lurked a half a year, been posting the rest of the year. Bought cigars from other places I wish I hadn't.
Spent more here on vigars than any place else.

Long enough now that my head is now almost completely bald, my mustache is graying, I'm beginning ( at least I think ) to shrink in size (NO ECHICK --- not there), and I have no more room in my dresser drawers, closets, refrigerators, or humidors for cigars. WHAT AM I SAYING -- I take that very last part back --- there's always room for more cigars, somewhere.

I just started posting around Thanksgiving this year. I went a bit crazy on my first bid experience that weekend. I have learned more from the few weeks I have been reading what you guys and gals have to say than I have learned from any other source.

I started my cigar smoking education by reading a book by Hacker. Good history of cigars. But you people really answer the good questions.

I agree. Cigar smokers tend to be class acts. Thanks for letting me participate.

I'm guessing early 2000. I was "CL" until I figured out I didn't have to use my initials for my screen name. I could be wrong, but I think this board had just started up. I'm back there with Heg, when the board was policed by Wanyburger. If ya stepped out of line, he didn't use the Slim approach "Maybe you should re-read the rules". No, he would tell you something like "Go away and piss off". Ahhh, the good ol' days, when no subject was a dead horse unless Wany said so. Back then, we teased Hansen 'cause he didn't know who the pop group "Hansen" was and we all wrote "ummm-bop" in our response posts. Robnsue was around then. So was Hokiebama, and Unklebill. Aberdeen was always around mumbling something about stomach acid on toast. BrentM01 hung out here until someone accidentally sent his wife the Breast Test. Bulldogbandit was sending everyone his tasty nuts. It was here, of course, that the REAL Hubcap the clown first posted, Bud worked his magical graphics, and the phrase "you've been hubcapped" was born. Who participated in the "Elite 8" or the "Magnificent 7" box passes?
I see Timinator, another oldie, popped in a week ago or so. Melski, another old fart, was actively kicking back then; I see him around here from time to time. I just mention some that are no longer around much anymore; there's plenty still here.
Yep, now I just sits here on the back porch hopin' one of the oldtimers drops by. Good to talk to you youngin's too, though. Hey, I think I'll go find an old Wany thread and top it for old-time's sake. I'll see what else I can dig up.

Okay, I found a couple of oldies. See "testing new thread function" (really just to show you about how long this has been around) and "Growing Forum..." to see a little classic Wanyburger.

Bidding and posting here since January of 2001. On vacation in New Orleans the second week of January, a guy at The Epitome told me about a site I might like where you could bid on cigars. I got back home, checked it out and now send it my paycheck each month.

Well, I've been bidding long enough that I'll be building my third tupperdor this weekend. I haven't been posting nearly as long though, a month maybe. I've been lurking quite a while and have finally decided to show myself and join the merry gang here.
