Another holiday around the corner and I am sitting here writing to new friends I have never met face to face. I just wrote a friend of mine who served in Desert Storm Part 1. I remember when he was there the first time he wrote a tobacco company to see about getting some pipe tobacco. They sent him five bags two pounds each for him and his friends. Another holiday is coming this way, I say we pool our resources and find a way to get the men and women who are getting ready to take care of business some much earned relaxation. If anyone knows of anyone who has been activated or is serving already over in the gulf see if we can adopt a cigar smoker and take care of with him or her smokes and letters. Let me know what you all think.

i could be wrong , but i think because of heightened security & the anthrax mailings last year i don't think our g.i's are allowed to recieve packages over there .i'm sure the d.o.d could tell you . it's a great idea & count me in if this is doable

My oldest son is in the Navy on a fast frigate, USS Ingraham (FFG-61) and was actually in the Persian Gulf on 9-11. He could see Iran and Iraq from where they were when the twin towers went down. Spent the next 113 days doing escort duty and searching merchant shipping. I have sent them several cigars and they have several serious cigar smokers aboard. I'll find out what the restrictions are and maybe we can figure out a way to get them distributed.

LETS DO IT. I will find a shop to donate the humidification bags to send then in. It sounds like we can find some service men in need smokes and jokes. This is a good cause lets make it work.

I have a friend on the USS Ingraham.

My orders finally came through the other night. I'm off to the USS Kearsarge, but they aren't scheduled to deploy for about a year.

Send em to Billy (smithbw). Email him for the APO Address... Or email me and I'll send it to ya

He is a great trader, and I am sure a square
straight-shooting soldier!

TaHeel, who's your friend on the Ingaham? Who do we send cigars to and how do we distribute them? Do we just pisk a few commands or get any active duty people here involved and let them pass them out? Send them to one person and let them parcel them out? I love this and maybe we can get them to them for a New Years smoke. I bet they'd love them anytime and a good way to let them know we care.

Canyon if your boy is still on the ship maybe he can be our go to guy. If nothing else he will get free beer from his friends when in port. Let me know your e-mail I will get with you about some particulars. We do not just have to pick one branch. There are enough of us we could cover all branches. We have the Navy how about the Army, Air Force, Marines and the C.G..

Aaron is still on the Ingraham and I'm sure he would love to pass them out. If he gets enough he can hit all the ships in Everett, Washington. He'll be home on leave from the 12/28/02 to 1/09/02 so you can ship to me and he can deliver when he gets back. That way there won't be any problems shipping through military mail. Won't be there for the holidays but I just don't think there's time to get them there by then. I guarantee that they'll get them all plus what I put in but you have nothing but my word on that. This is COOL! I am a Vietnam era sub sailor (fast attack Sonar Tech)and we had to hide the fact that we were military. This kind of support is great!!! My e-mail is [email protected]. Address is

I say we send them now and what gets there by the time Aaron ships out is what he passes out. I think it might be a good boost for the sailors to have a little love from home to light up the first night out to sea. Remember they are doing the work for us and our loved ones I'm not a very religious man so I mean it when I say God Bless them and keep them safe. Canyon DVM mine are on the way.

you absolutely can send cigars to our servicemen. I sent 4 cigars, among tons of other stuff to my buddy who was in afghanistan. he is back now with a shattered foot, you can see the pictures of it at www.fcnow.com, and if you ook through "old comments" you will find a link to the article when he got hurt.

These young men and women are the reason we can have the quality of life we now enjoy. I am in awe of what these young people accomplish and am in awe of what we (all veterans) also did at a very young age.

God Bless them all

over at the board that just closed we bombed a sailor that was stationed in bahrain. No problem sending smokes. I think he received about 200-300 smokes within a couple weeks. Its a great way to clean out coolerdors and do something for those who protect our freedom. Shipping by priority mail is the same as domestic.

Kudos to you guys. It's the greatest feeling in the world individuals like you are so gracious and generous with your smokes to those who defend the country. I'm in the Airforce and I'm on the same team, however I'm only in training. So I get to have cigars in my own little humidor to unwind after my 14 hour day of instruction and study hall. Again thank you guys, not enough people are like you in the appreciation of our brothers that take up arms for our country.

...My younger son was on the Kennedy in the Persian Gulf from Feb through Aug this year. The navy could get mail to him in about 10 days. We had email contact the whole time except for four days a directional collar on one of the comm dishes failed. His mother and I got a "box" off to him about every two weeks: fudge, cookies, toiletries, socks ("they get so foul you only wear them once"), Sunday sports page and cigars. He stored the cigars in a friend's humidor. After he returned home I learned he never smoked them. He traded them for CDs, the musical kind. He said one cigar were worth as much as a recent release movie on DVD.
