Boy, I just heard that a woman gave birth to a clone of HERSELF! Can you believe it! It was in another country which I missed the name of. Anyone else hear about it? Whats your take on this?

Five o'clock news is saying it might be a fraud. Either way it's probably not that big a deal. If you remember the first "test tube" baby a lot of people freaked out thinking there'd be no mothers anymore.

Anybody else feel that if this were real, naming the child Eve would be mocking the work of God? Just a thought...talk amongst yourselves.

I wouldn't think of it as mocking the work of God any more than a physician is mocking the work of God by treating the sick.

I have to say if a doctor helps with natural creation of life then he is acting in the interest of mankind. If a doctor creates life without the consideration of nature, i.e. cloning a human. He or she is in my opinion attempting to be godlike. If a child is a result of science without nature the how can that child be human. Keeping in mind I feel there is a God and he/she created man. This is disturbing because it opens up the question just because we can do something does it mean we should do something. I can sit in the middle of a highway at rush hour but should I NO. I can kill deer every night should I NO. I can let my dogs run around the neighborhood and reek havoc with the neighbor children should I NO. Just because it is possible to do something does not mean it is OK. I know 10 rules that are humanly possible to break yet I know many people who have spent their entire life trying not to break them. The question is what is right and what is wrong. I feel this is wrong.

you appear to be a religious man. you might ask yourself why a god allowed the dr's to learn how to clone. perhaps he wanted it done. where does your bible say cloning is immoral or unacceptable. it's not part of the 10 big ones.

I feel we have a God given gift of individual thought, morality is a personal thing one mans right is another mans wrong. It does not say anywhere in the bible shooting up with Heroin while pregnant is wrong but as a clear thinking person, one assume it to be. Make your own choice just because you have the knowledge does not mean its morally right to do it. In may humble opinion.

Intel, I take your point but I hardly think a clone could be created "without the consideration of nature" as you put it. I'm not defending it or condemning the practice but if if it works it's because the laws of nature allow it.

Injecting vaccines in our veins is not natural but it's probably saved more lives and prevented more human misery than any other human endeavor except perhaps sanitation practices (they're not natural either). Almost none of the food you see in the grocery store is found in nature. Go into the wilderness and try to find those perfectly formed, blemishless rosy red apples you see at the supermarket. With the exception of wild fish and game all the produce and meat has been "genetically engineered" maybe not in a lab, usually by many generations of controlled breeding. We humans play God all the time and it's a darn good thing that we do.
