This may have been posted once before. Either way, funny enough to read again....(true story)

A Charlotte, NC, man having purchased a case of very rare, very expensive cigars, insured them against fire among other things. Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpile of cigars and without having made even his first premium payment on the policy, the man filed a claim against the insurance company. In his claim, the man stated the cigars were lost "in a series of small fires." The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason that the man had consumed the cigars in the normal fashion. The man sued & and won. In delivering the ruling the judge agreeing that the claim was frivolous, stated nevertheless that the man held a policy from the company in which it had warranted that the cigars were insurable and also guaranteed that it would insure against fire, without defining what it considered to be "unacceptable fire," and was obligated to pay the claim. Rather than endure a lengthy and costly appeal process the insurance company accepted the ruling and paid the man $15,000 for the rare cigars he lost in "the fires." After the man cashed the check, however, the company had him arrested on 24 counts of arson. With his own insurance claim and testimony from the previous case being used against him, the man was convicted of intentionally burning his insured property and sentenced to 24 months in jail and a $24,000 fine.

This story has gone around a few times. Not a true story though, as far as we can tell. This is the second post of it in about 4 months.....Brent

... yep ... Brent is right. I found that same story on a 'Hoax and Urban Legend' site. Still ... it's a great story anyway!

There goes a belt green-horn. And if I am truthful, I must admit this is starting to chap my hide. Next you will be going into a tirade about over bidders and the merits of Acid vs. Lars. If people would just check the archives before every post this could be avoided. Us regulars cannot waste our time re-reading even the most amusing of anecdote......Yes, Wanna....This story has been posted here before.

What do you mean, "not true"!? I have heard from a very reliable source that the cousin of a friend of someone I once worked with had this happen to him! In fact, it happened whilst he was traveling down in New Orleans and on the same trip he had his kidney removed after being drugged and put into a bathtub full of ice water. It's all true. It must be... I read it on an email....

... who cares! If you don't want to read a post, then don't read it. Post anything (related to cigars) you want to, we live in a free country. What bugs one person, another might find interesting. I, personally, dont have the time to search around ...

As much as I love to read all of these creative posts and threads, I get just as annoyed when I open a new post to find a bleeding horse ready for the glue factory. I wish the subject bars were clearer defined, granting me the option to disregard such mindless banter. I suggest that before posting a thread about a “general” topic, check the “search” function. You see kids; technology has allowed you to find older posts addressing the same topic from months past, in gross and exaggerated detail, all in an effort to avoid the same opinionated group from responding in ways that make you feel like a jack ass. (Who does that?)…..If not already obvious, this is clearly my attempt to hush all posts regarding: 1.)overbidding..yadda..yadda… 2.) ACID vs. Lars scented crapola…… 3.) 5 Vegas cigars ……4.) ring gauges on box press cigars ( although I’ll admit that could be the all time best post on this board)……… 5.) Humidification techniques ( it’s not that deep folks; a wooden box, water …move on)….. 6.) Latin Lawyers waiting to exhale. 7.) Lame a$$ humor about cigar insurance. Thanks for your attention. It's like deja vu all over again.

I admit this post costs me a least two belts. HOWEVER!!! I did make mention prior to the story that it might have been posted before, giving any reader the opportunity to stop reading after the first sentence. You know, after reading this, even I realize that was a weak excuse. Nice touch Pentz..and the gang. I've officially took the pinata (tilda) stick and beaten a dead horse...oh the pain..and anguish!!! I would ban myself for a week but that would only cause a plethora of posts linking my dissapearence with Jimmy Hoffa. I'll spare the other readers and stick around.

Hey, the story's true. I get out on good behavior in two months. You'd never guess what you gotta do to get a handrolled cigar in the slammer. LOL.
