I have bought a 5 pack of these on CB. Has anyone tries these yet? Are they any good? They have a "shaggy" foot. Will that effect the way it lights and burns?? The filler is supposed to be 100% Cuban tobacco bought at auction. The cigar looks nicely rolled. Looking forward to trying one...Maybe tonight.

LOW -

- sorry - that's what it reminded me of when I tried one of those ...

- harsh, bitter, uneven ash - uneven burn

- uneven able to finish the damn thing ....

Oh SH** !! I was looking forward to smoking these. I paid a good buck for these. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you got a bad one.
Thanks for the input.

Low,
IMHO, I've tried the 1941 Pre-embargo Gurkhas, and I thought they were fantastic! I've smoked maybe 6 or 7, and each one was very good. They are a bit overpriced, the ones I purchased at a local shop run $26. Now the 1950 Gurkhas, I haven't tried those yet. At $26 a pop, they sell out real fast. Tell you what if you decide you don't want to smoke them, send me an e-mail and we'll work something out (trade or buy)

Smoked one on Friday night. Thought it was great! Have to disagree w/ Jimmy. Didn't find it harsh at all. I was worried about the "shaggy" foot but it lit fine and once it got past the shaggy area, burned almost perfect. Only drawback is that the draw was a little tight and didn't produce as much of a mouthful of smoke as I would have liked, but overall I enjoyed this all the way down to the Nub!!

Sorry Joel, I'll be keeping these babies!!

Lowman, glad to hear you liked the Gurkha, I knew you would, I was just hoping you wouldn't try it and just sell them to me, fat chance huh?

BTW I'll be going down to Ft Knox to celebrate New Years with my old Army buddy, and we'll be smoking the 1950 Pre Embargo Gurkhas, among many others. Too bad the draw wasn't better, each that I've had has drawn real well, I bet your others will smoke better!

Good Luck and Enjoy-Joel

Sell them... Yea Right!!
The ones I have are torpedos. They are rolled very firmly. Feel great to the touch. Can't say the 'gar was plugged, just tight. Hopefully the others will be OK.
Enjoy your New Year'S smokes!! Have a Happy!
