if your humidor is full and you need to store some cigars. try putting them in a cooler, put a bowl of water with a sponge in it. i have used this for several months and it works real well.

Great suggestion...do you use a hygrometer as well or just pinch the sticks every now a then?

And, what? NO 'pg' solution or distilled water involved?

For short term, preliminary storage, you can also store in the vegetable crisper of you refrigerator. This is a cool humid place, your sticks will require some transition time in a warm humid place to be acceptable. Its best to leave the cello on in the crisper. Just make sure there's nothing aromatic in the crisper that will contaminate your smokes (or the other way around, depending where your priorities are...lol).

WAIT! No sudden moves. Step away from the fridge, nice and slow.
I hate to dispute your idea, mrkmitch, but I've always heard to NEVER put your cigars in the refrigerator. Even the crisper is way too dry, and you'll get a funky flavor from even the mildest odors in there. I wouldn't store cigars in there even if they were in a zip-lock, and I cetainly wouldn't if they had no protection at all (cello won't retain humidity or guard against odors). I'm curious to hear if you've had any luck with this, but I'm just telling you what I've always heard. I say to just toss your cigars in a zip-lock for short-term (2 or 3 weeks max) or into a tupperware container with a little humidification device (Rickamaven can tell you how to make one yourself).
