Thanks all,
After reading many recommendations and and comments about Bucanero from here, I have am presently enjoying a robusto, and it's one of the most wonderful smokes I've had....so far. And it goes great with a left coast cab.
Thanks

Try a Full Sail. I think you'll be impressed.

Look forward to the opportunity, seem to be limited availability though.
Has anyone tried any other Don Douglas sticks. CI has Tambor bundles priced right, but what kind of smoke is it?

And don't forget to try the Peg Leg, the Classic Maduro (aged 5 years and the winner of the Cigar Industry Awards as the top 3 Maduro's of the 20th Century - WORLDWIDE) ... or even better yet, the el Capitan Reserva Maduro.

... I actually like the last one I mentioned the best out of all their lines, and is the one that received the highest rating in the history of Smoke Magazine (4.7) ...

Oh ... and those Tambor bundles are the best 'bang for the buck' that CI is offering right now, IMHO. but make sure you get the Torpedo Maduro (if you like maddies) ... excellent cigars!

I concur. I got a bundle of the tambor sticks a couple weeks ago. They're definitely a good value cigar.

I do prefer the maddies, and will probably follow up with a bundle, thanks for teh input.
After posting I went out to play, leaving 1/2 a bucanero in the ash try (took a couple of fresh sticks w/ me). I came home early this morning and re-lit the stoggie, something I usually don't do. but these were so good I thought I'd give it a try. Glad I did. Even after I let it go out and sit for awhile, the re-light was as good as when I put it down, something I haven't found with many smokes.

I've left one in the ashtray out in the garage overnight ... and finished it it the morning! It was 'almost' as good as when I first lit it.

But ... I always 'purge' them first.

I have done this with many different types of cigars, and they are always 'good to go' the next morning.

Soak them in salt water, no wait, that's how to purge crawfish. A little blow through before relighting.

Knock of the ash, and hold the flame of your lighter to the end of the cigar and puff to get a nice cherry.

Then take a deep breath of fresh air ... and blow hard through the cigar while holding fire to the foot. You will notice a huge flame coming out, and if you keep blowing, it will eventually change colors and die out with a yellow flame.

This will burn off any gases, ammonia and accumulated tars that build up in the body of the cigar.

Now put it away (I use the Cigar Savor) or take a drag and you should notice a substantial improvement in flavor.

This gets alot of looks at the cigar to those around you, but it works great. A lot of the folks here know this procedure, but I am always amazed at the number of people that I meet at cigar functions that have never heard of this.

P.S. I did go ahead order a bundle of the Don Douglas Tambors maddies.

... it will work on any cigar, and make it better the next time you light it up!

While Slims blow hard methods do indeed help it's important to understand that even while taking this approach a cigar that has been extinguished (either on it's own or deliberately) NEVER is as good as it was when you first lit it. Tar, ammonia and other contaminants such as your rotten breath have forever tainted what was once a wonderful taste. For this reason, plus I always feel light-headed after blowing a cigar :) I just chuck em and start a new one.

I agree, it's never fresh again. But I appreciate all the re-light info.

** Friendly advice before attemping to "purge" a cigar...

Keep a tight grip on the sucker and make sure its trajectory is clear in case of mishap. The torpedos
especially can be dangerous..

You can imagne the look on your Mom's face as she stands in front of you while you "purge" your cigar and you let that thing fly.
