The wet floral foam that they have at my local Wal-Mart says that it contains plant nutrients. Is this anything to be concerned about?

I'm not sure. But I know craft stores in my area carry the stuff and it doesn't contain any extra nutrients. If you are concerned maybe try a craft store in your location.

The "nutrients" are most likely an antibacterial that keeps the absorbed water fresh and clean, and there is probably some type of sugar based stuff to "feed" the plants or flowers, and something to keep the PH down, and maybe something to keep the flower stems from getting clogged.

Floralife is a floral additive product that is one example. It is non-toxic, but not recommended for human consumption...hmmm....

I dunno if it is harmful to cigars, but I'd go to a local florist shop and buy a brick or 2...

Can't be any worse than the PG in there not to mention the pesticides those countries used to keep the critters off their tobacco...

i don't want anything to humidify that has nutrients in it. the oaisis at wall mart that has that stuff she be avoided and plain, green, water absorbing oaisis is the correct substance.

what's wrong with pg? it is a catalyst "One that precipitates a process or event, especially without being involved in or changed by the consequences."
it tends to keep the umidity in a ckised enviornment at or near 70 % humidity.

Rick,
I've not found anything wrong with any of my smokes due to the oasis or pg I'm using. I just don't think there is enough of anything in Walmart oasis to get alarmed over; or any oasis for that matter. As for the PG, I use it but admittedly so, I don't know anything about it other than I'm supposed to use it! HAA; spank me for speaking stupid. Anyway, I'm going to check on florist foam from a florist shop or craft store just to be on the "safer" side of humidification. As for the pesticides those countries use on their tobacco.....well..."they can have my cigars when they pry them from between my cold dead fingers...!"

RICKAMAVEN -

Try the nutrient based bars ... rub them on your head before going to bed for the night ... see if anything starts to sprout .... if not - they'll be safe for the cigars .... if so - you won't need the Rogaine anymore ....

(don't mention it)
