Anyone try the new version of "La Vieja Habana" by Drew Estates? I see Cigars International has them in their new catalog for very cheap. For that price, something must be wrong with them.

Unlike the original, the new line is a mixed filler cigar. The originals were great smokes and one of the first to be offered by Drew Estates.

I have tried several different cigars lines from La Vieja. They are all pleasant, but i found the Cedar chateau to be the best. They are a little lower quality than the regular drews though and not aromatic.

have had several, couple of the cedar wrapped and a torp. i thought they were flat and uninteresting.
they might, however, be a good choice for a real new smoker as it wont overwhelm them and they arent nasty. my tastebuds are very likely blown out. lol

These aren't worth the cheap price that they come at. No taste, bad draw. Just my .02

I remember these... They used to have a light color band with the same circle and star as now. Had one a few year ago. I thought it was pretty good back then. Haven't tried the new ones yet though.

The new ones by the Drew Estate are a lower end mixed filler cigar. I tried a box of them. The ones I had (dont remember the name) sported a Corojo Wraper and was about Robusto size, and I didn't think it was half bad, considering I got em for about .80c a stick. If you don't mind a short filler Cigar and are looking for a good "everyday" cigar these may fit the bill for ya.

The original La Vieja Habana were wonderful cigars produced by Nick Perdomo before Perdomo became a big time manufacturer. They were commissioned by Jonathan Drew, who owns the brand, but not made by him. They were available in both a dark maduro, almost oscuro wrapper, and an EMS/rosado wrapper. They were long filler premium cigars.

The new La Vieja Habana is all packaging and hype. Some of the vitolas don't even qualify as mixed filler (a combination of medium and long fillers)and are primarily short filler remainders made from the production of the other cigars. Nice box, nice packing, nice band, good marketing, very low price, and sizeable promotion do not always equate with a fine cigar. They're worth an inquisitive buck-a-stick.

my take on these is that the Belicoso size is smokeable, but no more ... none of the other sizes are that good ...

I have both versions. The old blend is a very good cigar. The DE version an OK cheap cigar. X

Bought a box of the Belicoso D and am about 1/3 of the way thru them. A couple good ones a couple of really bad ones and the rest pretty much ho-hum. But the box and packaging are really great... hmm... I wonder if I could smoke the box?

I tried one a few weeks ago, not good.
A lot of thick stems, you could collapse a lung trying
to draw on that thing. It had a different taste with each draw (the word flavor does not apply).
I like a decent cheap cigar but this was a real disappointment...it was in such a pretty box hehe : )

Just thinking about these made me decide to light one ... it's the Belicoso I mentioned above .... draw is free and easy, smoke is thick and plentiful, flavor is pretty decent as long as I don't puff too much on it ... rest it well between puffs and it's pretty decent smoke ... I've had this and three others like it in my humi since early Nov ... those two months didn't hurt these at all ... IMO, this is an entirely different cigar than the Robusto, which I didn't care for at all
