I'm just a humble GI, and I can't afford a whole humidor of those $10 per stick Ashtons, or some of those other super super premiums. So my question is what is everybodys favorite daily smoke. That cigar your so fond of it has to be in your humidor and not kill the budget. I'm new to cigar smoking and there is a butt load of smokes to choose from. Some cheap and some very expensive. How about sending me in the right direction. I like to make every buck count and I like a good handmade longfiller just as much as the next guy.

Donald, a cigar I find to be one of the best tasting available at such a low price (approx 2-3 bucks a stick)is called "Andros"...It's a medium to full bodied cigar, only maduro wrappers...Beats many premiums...I am unable to post where to get them on here (only one place that I am aware of), so if you want more info, please email me at [email protected]...They are really great!..I don't currently have an everyday smoke in my 'dor..I am currently smoking whatever is in there...Keith

Welcome aboard Donald, and great question. It is obviously dependent on your particular tastes. Since you've been smoking for less than a year please realize that your tastes WILL change. What you find pleasing today will seem bland once your taste buds get broken in. In the mean time, listen to suggestions on this board and bid on 5 packs to trial brands before you drop cash on a whole box of sticks you may not like. Currently, I enjoy the 5 Vegas (not the Vintage) for a "buck a stick" smoke. Otherwise, perhaps my favorite reasonably priced cigar is the Puros Indios. I plan on trying Roly's soon, which are seconds of the PI. Hope this helps.

Can't say enough good things about the Flor De Oliva Grand Cameroon. Approx $2.00 each. Puros Indios Rothschild and Punch Elite are also good inexpensive smokes.

Padron #2000, Mayorga Robustos, Maria Mancini Magic Mountain or DeGaulles, Cinco Vegas (not Vintage) Doble Coronas and Coronas, Indian Tabac Habano Blend '95 Toros, La Luna LHB Robustos or Especial No. 5's, and Hoja Cubana Yellowbands. These are all pretty inexpensive and are all standby's in my many humidors. I'm more of a medium to full bodied smoker though, so read tailgater's post, he's right about your palate changing. What's heaven now can be blah later, so don't bulk up in the beginning.

OH yeah, I really don't like the Puros Indios, which I'm sure is a sacrilege to the rest of the smokers out there since they're so beloved by almost all. Steer clear of Flor del Todo, Te-Amo, Don Tomas and Aroma de San Andres.

I also don't like Puros Indios...Just never had one I actually enjoyed...Try the Don Tomas regular line...(NOT the cameroon or International series..They suck)..Heg doesn't know what he's talking about (hehheh)

Hoyo de Monterrey, Punch, rothschild. Less than 2 bucks. You may want to try a bundle of the La Luna LHBs for $19. I also have heard of people getting some decent "seconds", myself I gave up on them.

Ditto on the Puros Indios. Dissapointing. Same for Romeo & Julietta. I'll catch crap for this, but my favorite lawnmower smoke is Haban Gold white label chruchill, or La Unica #100 maduro.

JR Ultimate Double-Maduro Petit Cetro. A small one, great when you don't have a lot of time, but still great flavor. Less than $2 per cigar.

I don't smoke the Puros Indios on a daily basis, but they are a decent smoke. Good flavor and a slow, even burn. The worst cigar I've smoked was a Punch Punchito. What a nasty load of crap. I felt like someone was pouring bleach down my throat.

Interesting choices and I too am not a fan of the puros indios, although I know our friend aberdeen loves these sticks. I find them too salty and metal tasting. Oh well. Anyway, pound for pound my best every day cigar is the Canaria D'oro Rothchild maduro. I've written about these many times, and yesterday I also noticed they received pretty good remarks in the newest edition of CA. They received an 86, and for all intents and purposes it is great rating considering the other cigars in its class. In fact, the CAO maduro and Mayorga maduro also received 86 ratings. I know, I know… these ratings are really meaningless especially from this publication. I do however think the recent ratings on maduros are pretty consistent and fairly accurate albeit a little on the low side. For instance I think the La Perla Habana are a much better cigar than rated. I could go on but why. The Canaria D’oro is a great ½ hour smoke and runs under $2 a stick!! A MUST TRY.
