My wife and I are heading out in a couple of minutes for Puerto Vallarta. We will arrive there tomorrow, and do not have to return until next Saturday. In one hand I have a box of smokes from home, and in the other hand I have the address for the La Casa del Habano. Plan to always have a Pacifico in one hand and a cigar in the other. Talk to you guys next week.

Damn, now I'm hungry but the good news is I'm off in about twenty minutes. Just got off the phone and the SO is making one of the few dishes she does right...LOL

It's a Puerto Rican Style Pulled Pork Roast, where you cut a bunch of slits in the roast and fill it with garlic, adobo and vinegar mixture then marinate over night and roast it until it falls apart.Serve with rice and fresh tortillas, except I made homemade bread rolls last night...Better stop and get me some Negra Modelo on the way home...Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Here's one simular :

Well, unfortunately I am now back at home. Pto Vallarta was great. Clear skies and 80 degrees every day. Lots of Pacifico, Corona and Dos Equis. Tried Negra Modello, Indio, Tecate, Sol but none of them could compare to the Pacifico. You were right, it just tastes a thousand times better sitting on the beach than it does anywhere else. I took with about 30 of those cigars that roll around in the bottom of the humidor, the ones that are not really very good, but you won a five pack for 1.00, or a ten pack for 3.00. Smoked almost all of them up. Also took with about 4 very good cigars for special occasions. Stopped at LCDH- their selection was not that great (I am used to the Thomas Hinds in Winnipeg, where if it is made in Havana, it is on the shelf), but I did enjoy a RyJ Edicion Limitada Robusto, a Partagas Serie D No 4 and a No 3 Edicion Limitada, and a Juan Lopez No 1 and No 2. Each of these was in its way an example of why I smoke cigars.

Ate everything that I was not supposed to and lived to tell about it. Had oysters on the half shell on the beach at Mismaloya, tequila shrimp at The Blue Shrimp, grilled steaks at a fiesta, steak tacos (nothing like what we call a taco) at a family restaurant in Centro, and too much other food to mention.

Anyway it was one of the best vacations ever, but I am still glad to be back.

The Cubans were top notch as they usually are. Everyone should smoke at least one PSD 4 in their life, and the RyJ definitely earned its place as the best of the EL's (in my opinion). Also, the Juan Lopez brand is one of the most underrated in my opinion. Mysteriously, a few of these Cubans seemed to make it back through customs and end up in my humidor (or rather they will end up in my humidor after a week in the deep freeze-damn beetles!).

Only thing was, those Cubans don't come cheap. The JL's were @ 13.00 each and the RyJ was @20.00. The shop had the HdM LE Particulares, and they were going for 60.00 each. Ouch!

Rick: I usually have a pretty solid stomach, but after 5 days of constant Pacifico, Corona, tequila, oysters, shrimp and other items even my gut started to go a little bad. I just kept on going, with the hope that I will recover enough to go back to work on Tuesday.
