One or two of you might be interested in this one. RATIONAL MYSTICISM by John Horgan. It explores the realtionship between science and religion, how they converge and diverge and how neither can really explain why there's something rather than nothing. Whether you are a religious person or a rationalist (or a crackpot like me) this book provides much food for thought. Truly fascinating.

Yeah, but if you really want to be entertained read Elmore Leonard's "Tishmongo Blues"!!! Just out in paperback and really funny!

One more of you might like is JENNIFER GOVERNMENT by Max Barry. It's sort of The Matrix meets Ayn Rand. It's set in in the near future where multinationals control everything, government is very peripheral and people's last names are the company they work for. It's about a plot by Nike to give "street cred" to their new line of $2500 sneakers by killing a few people who have bought the shoes.
