**HELIX MADURO CURES UPSET STOMACH**

After spending most of Friday in my bathroom and the rest of the day sleeping due to what I suspect was a half-cooked chicken sandwhich, I just woke up around 2:30 am. Feeling slightly better I went to grab a cigarette, NONE LEFT =( I was almost sure it wouldn't agree with me, but I grabbed this cigar and it settled my stomach better then alka seltzer.

Should I submit this finding to the New England Journal of Medicine?

Nah, it was just the ol Norwalk taking its course...cigar just made you think you were feeling better. Kinda like when you have a head-ache, and you ask your significant other to...never mind.

Actually, smoking (cigarettes and cigars) do have a gastrointestinal benefit especially if you over-ate or simply have some gastic upset.
Tobacco smoking increases you gastric emptying time and increases the bowel motility. Furthermore, digestive enzymes are enhanced during smoking. Hence, why many smokers claim they enjoy smoking after meals.
Your upset stomach felt better after the cigar because the food you ate was better digested and moved through your GI tract faster, simply put.
IMHO, the fuller bodied cigars have a more beneficial response after meals. Try having some of the more full bodied cigars after a heavy meal, e.g Don Carlos, PAM, or a Bucanero.
