So do most of you slow down when it gets cold? Do you try to smoke in your cars because of the weather?

if you mean slow down my smokin, no. i sit here at home with a mundivictor boheme in my mouth as i smoke my last cigar of the day and get ready for sleep.

i don't really understand why someone should slow down because it is cold.

The cause for the slow down Rick is called frostbite.

Yeah, but only because I'm not playing golf. I smoke in my car no matter what the weather is like.

I smoke in any room in my home I want too, but I don't smoke in the outhouse because it's hard to read my Sears+Roebuck catalog. JonR

It's only "winter" in Phoenix, Arizona from about midnight to 9am in the morning for almost everyone. Personally, I've not taken my jacket out of the closet so far. In fact, I think it's been in there the last three years with the exception of going up to the mountains north of Phoenix. Can you picture 68-72 degree weather, you're in shorts and short sleeves at 9pm, on the back patio. You've given a nice guillotine cut to that Bucanero Classic Maduro churchill you've had aging since Thanksgiving. Despite just that amount of time in the humi, plume is all over that baby like if you stuck it in the sugar bowl. You toast the foot, light it and savor. Your left eye begins to twitch and your mouth gets crooked as you reach for your aged rum and yell ARRRGGHHHHHHH!! MATEY!! 'TIS a good cigarrrrrrrr!!! (the dog looks over with a cocked head and quickly runs through the doggie door!)

I bought a little heater for my garage area. I turn it on for about an hour, then go enjoy a smoke.

Rick has a distinct advantage over most of us Married Guys, he can smoke in his house!! I cut back when it gets really cold in Southern California! It is not that cold that often, but it can get in the 40's and 50's here!

Yes. I have to smoke in the garage which is not insulated. When it is below 0 outside it is mighty cold in the garage even with a space heater. It is just really hard to enjoy a great cigar when you are shivering. But I find that its a good time to smoke those less then great cigars I have amassed. That way if I get so cold I need to go in and don't feel bad for leaving half the stick unsmoked.

That is true. And if you have all your clothes on, I mean all the clothes you own on, and there is no wind blowing, it's not that bad.
40's and 50's? Ha!!!!

Gotta love Chicago weather! Tonight it will be -3 and tomorrow it will be something like 80 and sunny (j/k)I just went to a friends house and he has one of those portable propane heaters. We put it in the garage, fired it up and voila, instant heat. I tried my first Hendrik Kelner 2nds. The taste was there but it was rolled VERY loose. Guess thats why it was a 2nd. Every thing was fine untill I burned a hole in the bottom of my jacket on the heater. All I needed was some Jameson straight up and I could have looked past the burned jacket

Woman That I Love doesn't fuss over my cigars coming inside for the winter. I just smoke robustos when she's home and save the Churchills for when she's at work. I use a smoke-eater, candles, and make sure to get the stub out the house as soon as I'm finish. Very hard to tell I smoke indoors in the winter. I travel a lot for work, often for 3 or 4 hours at a time, so I can puff to my heart's content while mobile.

I limit my consumption to please my wife. She is a good woman who is worried I will contract emphysyma and pitch over dead onto my work bench one day. I can't fault her for loving me too much! I rarely smoke when it is lower than 50 deg. Fortunately, in west TN the cold period is short. And the rare nice day makes that smoke so extra special!

We're expecting a heat wave tomorrow of 9 degrees! I must admit I do slow down in the winter...can't linger over a cigar when I'm losing feeling in my extremeties. I have the option of smoking in my home, but choose not to. There's nothing like sitting outside...contemplating nature, reflecting on the day, a good cigar and a little cognac...but one must be able to adapt...so I sit in my garage...with space heater...contemplate the junk I really should throw out...puff on a nondescript cigar...and pretend my hot cider is really a snifter of Cardinal Mendosa!

Been colder than S$#t here in S.E. Michigan for the last two weeks... 5-10 degs @ night, 15-20 for highs in the day..

I have a smoke almost nightly lying up against my fireplace hearth with either a hardwood fire or a "Duraflame" log burning. I keep the stogie near the fireplace and exhale or "puff" the smoke up the flue. 99% of the smoke smell goes up the chimney..

No complaints from my 12 year old daughter.. got rid of the wife years ago! he,he

Hey Cayman2b, I hear you! I do the exact same thing!! Sit by the fireplace and smoke. The pull of air is so good, when I exhale it automatically goes right up the old chimney!! Hey, I keep warm and get to enjoy a cigar without hearing the BS!!

Charlie, are you serious? "when it gets really cold in Southern California! It is not that cold that often, but it can get in the 40's and 50's here!" Whoa!! really? All the way down to the 40's & 50's huh? LOL!

Right now here in NY it's -15 with the wind chill!! 40's-50's would be considered balmy here right now!!

Thankfully, it never gets cold here in So. Cal. so I rarely find my smoking time inconvenienced. Of course, sometimes I have to wear a jacket...

Sonny, listen to Canyon. He's got the right idea. Set something on fire and sit next to it. Logs, garbage, neighbors dog, whatever.

I guess not too many New Yorkers out there...here in Upstate NY, it's -2 (without the windchill).
Just keeping warm in the Basement with a small portable heater, cup of tea, some soft tunes, and an ISOM Diplomatico...just waiting for the warmer weather till I can use my porch or deck again.

Got out to go to my fav cigar bar last night, and they had a flier on the door. Closed due to frozen water pipes. Light a fire inside/outside and let it burn..(pyromaniac here)..lol

The cold doesn't bother me. 5 today -5 tonight. The colder it gets the more Bacardi 151 I drink. Natures anti-freeze.

I'm one of the lucky ones I guess. I can smoke inside any room. I have 10 of them. My girl has asthma, so I can't have plumes of smoke around her. She likes the "aroma". I mostly sit in the dining room, where the computer is or in the kitchen. I have a large wood stove that just about clears out the smoke in all the rooms.

It's great to sit in front of the fire and let the cares of the day melt away. Cut and split 2 cords of frozen wood last weekend, so the Bacardi let he stiffness melt away. Can't drink 151 in front of the fire, too dangerous. It's scary enough with a 60 ring gar!

My limit outside is about 10 degrees. I like to walk the beach. Now you can walk the harbour unless the icebrakers come by. When it gets that cold, it gets too uncomfortable. I tired of melting my gloves, so I have a patio out by the pool behind the garage, that's closed in on three sides. I just velcro some clear 7 mil drop cloth over the opening, turn on the propane heater and have friends over. What a life we have in New England.

Any of you N.E. boys get up by the North Shore some weekend, give me a holler on the board and we can get together with a couple of my friends and have a quick Herf.
