My brother in-law shipped out to Kuwait last week and we are wanting to send him a care package.

Any suggestions on what is and what is not allowed?

You can not mail the following to Kuwait:

1) Playboy Magazine
2) Alcohol
3) BLT sandwiches
4) MAD magazine

You may send the following:

1) LL Bean catalog
2) Coca Cola
3) Cornbread
4) the Koran

Keep in mind that it may take weeks to catch up with him. I remember many times seeing someone get a box of crumbs that used to be cookies. So send stuff that ages and travels well.

Always depends on the your billet. (lodging) A tent, MRE's, and a hole in the sand to squat over is a totally different world than air-conditioned "hardback" tents, mess halls, and running water.
Try to find out first, it'll help. And ANYTHING can be mailed to Saudi if you're ingenious enough. ;)

Hmmm, sounds like Cheese, Wine and some Hookers.
How about a CD player and some CD's?

list is accurate for standard shipping. US military may have some exceptions granted.

Sounds like a fun place huh?

A little more info....

All media (audio, vidio, computer tapes and disc) will be inspected by Saudi Arabian censor board expect delays.
Looks like you can send cigars, just dont send cigar advertising.
All shipments require a valid telephone or fax number for reciepiant.
Shipments for govt and military offices must bear contact name, telephone number and extension. Without that info, the guards will not accept the pkg.

PS. I hope he and the rest get back safe and soon.

RDC, Yes they can have portable CD players and CD's I took my entire CD collection and portable player with me the last 4 times to that area....you cannot take anything like fitness magazines where bare skin is showing etc. But the Afee's stores in place on some of the base's there sell these magazines and that is OK...

As far as mailing packages there I had my wife send my Cigars to me in a humidor after I had deployed... it took them 14 days to get there because she listed the contents as Cigars and humidor... when I was winning bids on CB and them shipping them to me it took anywhere from 4 days to 8 days to get them... CI did not list them as Cigars when I ordered from Ciesta Ray Netherlands it took the package 5 weeks to get to me....So basicly it is how you list the contents of the package as to what gets held up in the military customs in NY....
to do it again I would Take or ship myself some

Kuwait isn't Saudi Arabia. Don't they have a few less rules there?

The natives smoke like chimneys, so I wouldn't think tobacco is not allowed.

I have always wondered. Since Saudi Arabia doesn't allos Israeli products, are US military people who are Jewish allowed to enter the country?

I know I would never go there as a civilian.
