I will be heading down there in a few weeks and would like to know the best places to relax and smoke a fine cigar.

There is this place where I am staying called the Library Lounge where you can relax, read, play chess, drink...looks sweet I will definately check it out. They have a walk in humidor, too. http://www.ritzcarlton.com/hotels/new_orleans/dining/venues/library_lounge/default.asp

Someone already mentioned the Cigar Factory in the French Quarter. I will check that out just because I am curious and would like to watch someone roll a cigar.

Perhaps while sitting outside at the Cafe du Monde ,
drinking cafe au lait and munching on beignets.

There's a place called Dos Jefes Cigar Bar on Tchoupitoulas (sp) Blvd. I've heard good things about it. I've been meaning to stop in for years.

Haha I agree with you Billy. The Ritz-Carlton shares the Maison Blanche Building with the Iberville Suites Hotel which is where I am staying for half as much but I still get access to the restaurants and lounges of the Ritz. Ding ding ding I'm the winner!

Hey Scotty,
The wife and I went down 2 years ago... stayed in the French Quarter. If you like good DixieLand Jazz go to the SeaPort Cafe on Bourbon Street they are cigar friendly. You have to visit "The Cigar Factory" while you are there... they have rollers on site and 4 locations. Fascinating to watch.

And don't forget the ACME oyster house (724 Iberville Street) just off Bourbon St.; they have the best oysters hands down of any place in New Orleans!

There is a shop there (I think that it is on Royal St in the Quarter) called the Epitome. They have a good selection of smokes, as well as some comfortable chairs to sit in and smoke. You can also go to Dickie Brennans steak house. You can't smoke in the dining room, but they have a cigar lounge upstairs. I would bring my own smokes though, the ones that they sell are expensive. Plus, they have the best damn steaks anywhere. I mostly just walked around and smoked cigars though. Every day, we went to the Quarter, I bought a smoke, then we walked around and soaked it all in.

The Ritz Carlton room is the best place to smoke in New Orleans. But consider bringing your own sticks as you'll be paying Ritz prices! Other places of note:

Dickie Brennans' Steakhouse - in the bar,
Arnoud's - Has a smoking dining room,
Galatoire's - upstairs in the bar,
Cigar Factory - watch them roll while you smoke - on Decatur Street close to Hard Rock,
Mayan Imports - uptown on Magazine street - our best cigar shop,
Carousel Bar - Monteleone Hotel,
Moon Walk - on the Mississippi - stroll and smoke!
Pat O'Brien's - on the patio.

And, finally, most of the music bars in the French Quarter allow smoking. We don't have the New York disease yet!

Have a good time and spend lots of that tourist $.

Wow, great list there! Thanks.

I'll definately check out the Carousel Bar and the Cigar Factory and of course the Ritz lounge. Pat O Brien's is on my list again this year, of course. As for the rest we'll see what I can find and I'll try to check out as many as possible.

* begins to think the Traveldor I bought won't hold enough cigars for this trip

Crescent City Brewery. Near the French Quarter. Microbrewery with great beer, good food, oyster bar, cigar friendly.
