Just wanted to say hello to the board. I'm a newbie and I'm enjoying the whole experimentation phase of selecting a cigar! Every brand is a new experience, some good and some bad. I started reading the board a week ago and based on the majority opinion made a bid for a bundle of La Luna LHB. I hope I like them as much as you guys do. They are certainly priced right.

As for what I have tried and like so far, I must say that the CAO L'anniversario selections are my favorites. I also like the XXO by Tony Borhani, but I found that they are tightly rolled and have a hard draw. Then again I've only had 4 of these guys and it could have been a bad batch. Has anyone else experienced this? However, as much as I like these cigars, I can't see myself paying $6-$8 a stick for my day to day cigar. That's why I enjoy reading the comments that you guys have on all the different cigars you have smoked. Not that I'm giving up on experimenting on my own, but it's good to know what the majority of people like and really dislike.
Thanks. MM

Hey, BTW what's up with this Hubcap thing?

He is an ok guy........like most of us he refuses to admit the sickness of being an addict to cigars. The hobby word is just a coping mechanism. I have been an addict for almost 15 years. It is like crack to me.....there is good out there and there is bad. You know who does you right and you keep going back to that supplier...oh my GOD! I am talking like a crack head.....sorry, keep on smokin those gars'. Welcome to our fantasy world where we all are just happy there are others like us....I guess.

For the good "everyday" inexpensive cigars stick with Flor De Oliva Grand Cameroon, Mayorga Maduros and Dos Rios. You can't go wrong. These three are actually better than most expensive cigars. They average between $2-$3.50 per stick. Chump change!!

Welcome! Ditto on the Mayorgas. I'd take them over anything 3 times their price. On Hubcap: someone posted a picture of this crazy clown called "Hubcap" a few months back, and some of the more creative and computer-savvy guys here took his image and pasted it over other pictures. He's become quite a legend around here! If you do a search here on the cigarbid forum on "Hubcap" you can probably bring up old notes and pictures. Also, check out the Yahoo cigar club kcscigaraficionados created by one of the regulars here, Rookie, where we have an archive of just about every picture ever created with Hubcap's head. Hey, cigarbid, is it ok if we post the link here? Jeep, enjoy your time at cigarbid! I'm hooked too.

hobby? habit? what about obsession? I often piss off my wife in the morning as I rush out of bed and go downstairs to my cabinet and bid my cigars a good morning, check to see how they made it through the night, and open the door slightly to get a whiff of the aroma from 2,000 cigars. Like plants, after all cigars were once plants, it helps cigars if you talk to them and maybe even sing a tune or two, then day dreaming during the day on what cigar I will enjoy later that night.

Obsession is the truth. I was the newbie two months ago. My new quest is to find the ultimate home for storing those sweet babies I have already collected. I found out that the more cigars I have, the more I want. Collecting and smoking, Collecting and smoking. Excuse me I have to go look in my humidor again. BYE

Thanks for the advise guys. I have to try all of the brands mentioned. As for running away, I'm already hooked. I won the auction for those La Luna LHB for only $17 and I also got a box of La Cubanita for $16. Now I just have to make room for them in the humidors.
I was thinking of making one of those Igloo-dors, you know a humidor made from a large cooler. Does any one have one of these? Any tips on making one? BTW, I know the feeling Aberdeen, I look in on my gars before I go to sleep. That way I can have dreams of cameroon and maduro fairies.

Hey Jeep, welcome to the crazy and fun world of cigars and ditto crazed individuals. My God, this thread really sums up the best of everything we're all into. Camaradarie (spelling?), adventures (for the next great stick) and general crazyness. LOL. Before making this post I had to check my 'dors to see if all my babies were allright. Fundling a few as well. We're all hooked and nothing can save us. Who wants to be, anyway. Again, welcome to the fun Jeep.

Gosh, I can never post just once! I need to collect my thoughts... Actually, you'll have to search under 'I hope this works' and another one is 'esplendidoschick' or maybe 'another one for the dart board'.
