Sarcasm is the tool of the devil.

And of those without a reasoned argument.

Why is it:

a) warped?
b) sick?

Because it describes what makes war unpleasant? And picks on the "war on drugs"? It may be truthful and unfunny (it wasn't meant to be funny) but it is not warped.

Hog, I'm with you.

CJ, I'm glad you have your opinion (truly, not being a smart a$$). More importantly, I'm proud that you, I and the rest of the Americans in our nation have the right to express our thoughts freely. Like Hog, I too am a soldier, and I've sworn an oath to defend and support our constitution with my life, so that we all have the right to express ourselves freely. CJ, I am genuinely curious to know if you were/are a member of the US Armed Forces? I’m not asking to start an argument, I’ve just heard a lot of varying opinions on this topic of discussion, and I was curious if the majority of those who share your thoughts were prior military or not. I, by no means, place myself above those who have not served (just to clarify), I’m just curious.

It is sort of like reading Dennis Miller without thought, wit or a reasonable use of the work "fu__".

The only intelligent thing I can garner from this site is that the writer is in support of the use profanity in in lieu of making a point.

Hmmm. Interesting thought process that brokenly addresses results but not the cause. Kind of like bitching with no solution.

Mr. Mean,

Dude...it is a COMIC, not a policy paper. That's why there is no 'solution' to the issue.

No one has yet said why this comic is 'warped.' Please explain.

And I can't remember the last time this country was invaded, so protecting 'my' liberty is surely up for debate. You are protecting the freedom of oil billionaires, my friend usahog, and sadly they see your life as disposable. Opponents of this war, whether you see it or not, actually have you and your life in mind. We think your life is worth more than the interests of oil barons.

If you care, I come from a decorated family of veterans. WWII and Vietnam, all decorated for heroism, all loyal and brave soldiers and officers. And they all think this war is insane. Patriotic to the core, these vets fear for their brothers and sisters in the military who are being used to promote the wealth-building interests of the few. The military is not for the elite and their interests; the military is for the people and OUR interests. They aren't served in this war.

My point: opposition to the war is a way of saying you are worth more than mercenaries for billionaires. You are, and we oppose you being used by them.

And PLEASE don't tell me that this war in Iraq is about al-qaeda. That is a joke. Those guys are a threat to Sadaam Hussein's power, not natural allies. Hussein is a secular dictator, not a fundamentalist religious leader. Thus, there is a natural antagonism.

You aren't protecting our freedoms in Iraq. Iraq is a poor, third-world dictatorship on the other side of the world. I hardly see the threat. We should be fixing our economy and finding jobs for the millions of unemployed.

John... The comment about that site being Warped is just what I said... WARPED... as in if the person who set the site up wanted to rant about something thats fine... but the Profanity word after word and the Sexual Induendo and other Crap on the site could have been set aside and as I stated if CJ likes sites like that and wants to Defend a site as such then I also Feel he is Warped also... I don't think I need to Explain my personal feelings any longer... the two of you seem to enjoy trying to pull them through the Mud anyway so Have at it...
as far as sitting down and discussing Issues... or going Riding with you Sure... I would be interested in something like this... but I can tell already our Beleifs (sp) differ Emensly....

Hog, you'd run my commie ass off the road in an instant! Just kidding.

Hey, I agree that the site pushes the envelope to make a point, but the issues he is dealing with are pretty damn outside the envelope. We all respond in different ways, and it seems that the cartoonist feels pretty beaten down by the whole thing. And responds with cynical despair. But he is responding to what he sees--and I agree with him--as a pretty cynical situation.

My point: dude, it is ALL ugly all around.

joel,

I, like many others, served my country. I learned enough in the military to know that "collateral damage" (code speak for civilian deaths) is part of the equation. I'm not a big war fan per se (soldier vs. soldier), but sometimes it may be unavoidable. I do have a severe dislike and hatred for the machines and weapons used to target innocents and civilians. Innocent people always make up the most deaths in any conflict and and that is very ugly statistic. If you believe that civilian deaths are just "collateral damage" than you can not be considered a civilized human being IMHO.

That is true it is Ugly... but we have givin peace a chance...the UN sanctions that are in place since the end of the Gulf War.. have failed... Saddam just like North Korea has disobeyed the policy's set in front of him... what you get to see and read in the News is not the whole facts and what the US and other Intelgence Agency's around the world know is in the Protection of the American Citizens... allot of non Believers and Anti War Activists can rant and rave and believe what they want about this just being over Oil... but there Wrong and I am not one who would risk the lives of my Family members to wait the Outcome and see if this is all farce... time after time after time Saddam has proven himself to be another Hitler... No one Cares because its not at there Front Door... Well Brother let me just say... I for one don't want to wait for this to be at my Front Door!!!! the Bio Chemical Threats are there with Saddam and with Osama and the Al Quida... in 1993 the World Trade Center Bombing.. they found traces of Syanide Gas and the Blast was suppose to disperce that as far as it could all over the City and Kill whoever it could... these people do not care about Human Life... Especially American Cowboy Infadels Life's...

as far as Riding and hitting the Open Road, I wouldn't do any harm to anyone...I am not that type of person

I try to live by the Moto "I Don't Trouble Trouble Less Trouble Troubles Me"

Sitting down and BS'ing over a few Cigars and Brews is conversational... not a poker game... we don't have to toss our Knives and Guns up on the table and Hollor Anti Up!!!!
as far as me changing your views I doubt that is possible.. and as far as you changing mine.. well you should know better....

enjoy your evening!!!

John,
Boy are you full of yourself.
It's OK to be against this and any other war. But to suggest that you have better insight than our government as to what is in the best interest for anyones life (other than your own) is either severely misguided or simply idiotic.
Being a pacifist from a military family has obviously left some scars.
IMHO...

tailgater,

I didn't say I was a pacifist. I said I don't support this war. That doesn't mean pacifism. And, no, I don't bear any scars from my family. Quite the opposite: these folks instilled a sense of independence and not wavering from your beliefs. If that's a scar, I'll take it. They are also against this war.

Further, I didn't say I 'knew better' than anyone else. What I was trying to do was point out that being anti war in Iraq was not anti-military personnel. The opposite, actually, is true.

Hog, you know I was kidding, I hope, about your running me off the road. Just a joke. And you are right. Cigars and beer are the great cement across political lines.
