I'm a 19 year old sophmore at Texas A&M and i enjoy a good smoke about once a week.....being a college kid my funds are obviously pretty tight.....so far 5 vegas is the best bargain i have found....anyone have any suggestions for relatively inexpensive cigars that would be considered a good smoke?

bigjordo,

Go for 5-packs.
Pick up some La Perla Habanas. Great smokes & in will fit anyones budjet.
Also try the Flor de Oliva Cameroons, any size, they are also affordable and VERY good.
One more would be Mayorgas, any size, is a Great smoke, and also priced right!
There are many more, but for budjet priced PREMIUMS these are a good start!
Other guys will give you more! Those are some of my favorites!
Be careful, every now and then the bidding is too high for these. Be patient your good deals will come!
I suggest checking out prices on the cigarsinternational.com web site. This site is the Retail "brother" to this site. If the price you bid is under the retail price on this site you are looking good!

Good Luck, Happy Smoking!!

Santyth, hey you better watch out for me! I've got a bid on those too!

Like Santyth said, these Indian Tabacs are great for new smokers and experienced. They are mild, but have a very good flavor. For an experienced smoker they are probably more of a morning smoke. Priced Right too!

Kelner Seconds are one of the best buys out there. Seconds of Avo, Davidoff, etc. at a fraction of the price. Punch/Hoyo Seconds are also good. Occidental HSGs used to be a good buy before everyone discovered how good they are.

PCK, e-mail me. I might be able to bomb you with a few smokes before long (nothing spectacular, but smokeable and will help stretch your budget).

I just tried the 5 Vegas and I like them too. I also got a five pack of La Hoya Selecta in Maduro. I found it to be a surprisingly good smoke. Very nice flavor. Mild to medium body. And, very reasonably priced. There's a few more that I've never tried that I'm looking forward to shortly. Hope this helps.

smithbw is right on. Don Juans are great smokes for the price...though they are on the mild side. They get a bad wrap....Criollo '98s do pack a spicier punch and CHEAP! My Ways are good also. Good point with the 5-packs...resist buying boxes right away...give yourself some time and make sure you have space to store'em.

They really need to resurrect the A&M - LSU rivalry.

If you like 5 Vegas than try the Dictador. Very similiar but the Dictador actually has a little more body and is a little more flavorful IMHO and it's about half the price.

don't buy just one 5 pack, the shipping is too expensive. the first item shipped has the higherst shipping cost, all boxes and samplers are one dollar extra, 5 packs are 50 cents extra.

first 5 pack shipping is $3.95, each aftr that is 50 cents.

send me you snailer and proof you are carrying 12 units with a 2.8 or better and win a prize. [email protected]

Try the Padrons---I especially like the 3000 myself. Bothy natural and maddies are great. Priced between 4 and 5 bucks too.

Good advise from all so far.

Do yourself a favor and follow up on Rick's suggestion. I hear he is the most benevolent of the prize givers.

Indian Tabac Buffalos are fabbalus. A buck apiece if you snag 'em right - not bad for a 6 dollar cigar. Fabbalus.

Can't go wrong with a Don Lino robusto, either.

Fabbalus.

Welcome bigjordo
Good to see another Texan here, like there aren't any here already. LOL I hail from Houston along with a few others here. I have to go with laxmans recomendations of Padrons. Go with the Londres or Delicias, they are both cheap and good.

I think that "The Cigar" by Perdomo, is an excellent value, when you catch a deal, got a 5 pack for 9 bucks last week. Churchills at that :-)

HdM double maduros any size, Punch maduro any size, El Rey del Mundo, RyJ, Montecristo, all of these brands have a "basic" cigar line. These "basics" are the super premiums of the fairly recent past. They've just been overshadowed by the hype for the latest offerings as will they in their turn. All are consistent performers. Watch the boards and you can pick these up at less than 1/2 of retail.
