i have done alot of reading lately and i have never tried one, but, the Te-amo brand cigars have some notable write-ups. Ive read they have their own "mexican" taste that ranks us there with some of the best dominicans. any comments good or bad?

I hated the Te Amos of 10 or 15 years ago so much that I havent tried one since. I keep hearing that they have changed, but I just havent screwed up my courage enuff yet. Try one and let us know.

I have smoked some Te Amos. The ones I've had in the last few years were not very good. I think the terms woody and vegetal apply. You might try some of the anniversario maduros. They MIGHT be better. Cruz Real smokes show up here from time to time. They are better. If you try any Te amos make sure you get them CHEAP!

Had a Te-Amo Torito Maduro once upon a time from a CI sampler. My notes say:

A Mexican maduro. I liked it. Strong and spicy, full flovored. It's short and a little nasty at the end but a decent smoke.

Rick, you are welcome. They beat the bad frogs eh? I would not classify a Te Amo as a dog rocket by any means. They are just near the bottom of my "cigars to smoke" list. I used to smoke a brand named Conquistador that I would buy in Tijuana by the box. That was a good cigar! At that time they were only sold in Mexico. I have never had a good Onela's.

The New York line of Te-Amo is a better smoke than their regular line but I believe they only come in naturals.

As I first started cigars, my brother in law would bring Te Amo's (he got them on the cheap from a local shop) to the golf course. I recall that they were usually 7+ in length, and about a 50 ring gauge. He raved about them, but I couldn't stand them. While they lasted about 6-9 holes for him, I would inevitably find that after about a hole and a half, they'd fall out into the water, "accidentally" get stepped on, or otherwise would become unsmokable.

I'm with eleltea on this one. Tried quite a few Te Amos a *long* time ago, haven't had any recently, and don't really want to.

The regular line of Te-Amo cigars is not very good IMHO. But the "anniversario" line is very good....69

I agree w/ 69. I did Te Amo's a long time ago (Sherman, set the way-back machine for 1971) and thought they were a bit harsh back then. Someone turned me onto one of the new Te Amo Anniversario a few months back, and it is a more than descent smoke.

the hell with them, i liked the first one.

not suppossed to leave cigar buts floating in the water and possibly hurt the ducks. and leaving a cigar butt on the freeway, or what ever you call that grass between the tee off and the hole with the flag, is grounds for dismissal from the membership of the club.

i don't see tiger wood leaving any butts or even smoking a cigar when playing. look how well he plays.

RM, are you saying they are like smoking those brown things floating in the water?

Te-amo was not very good years ago and has improved since they started blending with other nations. I was never a fan of mexican tobacco until I tried the anniversario line and now I am hooked. If anyone wants to give some mexicans smokes a good home let me know. I will be glad to burn a few.Cooksta2@aol

I've smoked a few. I would describe them as I have described Tamborils, newspaperish with hints of coughing. They taste best when you don't light them.
