Used the Bowman Triple-Flame Lighter until empty and can't seem to get a good fill. I am using Colibri premium Butane. Before filling I purge lighter put lighter in freezer for an hour, warmed butane can a little ( being very careful) but for some reason the flame is either nothing or very low. Tried process twice with no success.

As far as I can see there is no flame adjustment on this lighter. Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem with my Bowman. I don't think they're really refillable. The solution is to throw the damn piece of junk overboard and light your cigars with some real.

jerry the bowman is a very good lighter. is there a little collar with a notch in it around the fill nozzle on the bottom? that is the flame adjuster. you need a little screwdriver to turn it.

i find with my torches that you need to fill it 2 or 3 times, 10 or so secs apart. apparently the can doesnt exert enough pressure to fill the lighter all at once. have read on other boards that you can hold the 'light' switch down when you fill the lighter, allowing the new gas to push out the air thats in the fuel tank. do NOT do this if there is a flame coming out of the lighter!

hope this helps!

jonr,
WHy do you say use Ronson fuel, I read that the premium fiter fuels were better and kept the lighters from pluging up with impurities.

I would never use Ronson fuel on any jet torch lighter ...

... if it isn't at least 'triple refined', you risk clogging up the jets with oils and impurities.

I have bought several of these. Try using something to release the pressure in the "tank" before refilling. A pointy pair of tweezers works well. The adjusting screw surrounds the refilling hole. They are not great lighters for longevity but I like the double flame for lighting large ring cigars.
