The local smoke shop was out of my regular smoke so I tried a Cuesta-Rey Centenario Robusto. Pretty, well made, drew well. But the first couple of puffs told me this was not a cigar for me.
Too much pepper. Not extreme but just enough to make it unpleasant. Good nicotine content though. I have had cigars with more pepper than this but overall I find the black pepper burn unpleasant. Give me a smooth Maduro wrapped stick any time. Anybody have suggestions for smooth sticks? I like Punch, El Rey Del Mundo, Arturo Fuente, Partagas...

I smoked the same Cuestra about a month ago and loved it. Perhaps you picked a bad stick? If you can find them I think you would enjoy the Flor de Oliva Grand Maduro. If not have you tried a Mayorga? Both are excellent and in the $2 - $3 range.

I didn't like the Cuesta right off the shelf and I still didn't like it 3 months later. Padron is good. Mayorga is good, Flor D.O. Grand anything is good. La Luna M.F is good. Opus X is good. Punch is good.

A smooth maduro? I think Macanudo maduros are great. As everyone here will tell you, Mayorgas are hard to beat, as well as La Luna Maduro Fuertes.

CL, I think you and I may be the only ones here that truly like the Macanudo Maduros, especially for me the Prine Phillip, Hyde Park had draw problems often, as when the subject of Macanudos came up before, they came out of the wood shed bashing the cigar.

search all you can for alternative fuels for cars, but in the meantime, there are few causes I can think of worthy of going to war over than oil.
