What do you aficianado's think about the La Gloria Cubana brand. I have only smoked the Wavell Maduro a few times back in 1999, and if my memory serves me correct, it was well worth the few dollars I spent.

Any imput about the brand, your favorite blend, size...

Thanks for your help...

The Serie R is an excellent smoke. They are availble here at CBid on a regular basis.

An excellent smoke, IMHO. I personally like the Serie E Line which is a more full bodied flavorful smoke. Beautiful oily sheen, with consistent flavors of dark coffee, nuts, and nicely spiced. Enjoy!
Time to pluck one from my humidor and reminisce.

never had the serie r although i hear its a real kick in the pants.

i like the maduros but not the ems, with the exception of the en cedros. have had the wavell and the medal d'oro#2 and like them both. very much. and they get deeeeeeeeeeee-lish! with age.

I think that the LGC is a great smoke for the money.. The ones that I have smoked always burned and tasted great. They are full bodied but very smooth.

I like the Serie R. The #7 is big, fat, and tasty...the first one I smoked, I lit up on the golf course. Followed that with three birdies in four holes. And I am a pretty lame golfer. Since then, I have loved this cigar.

I don't know what you guys are waiting for. La Gloria puts out some fantastic smokes that should be a part of everyones' rotation.

Yea! what Mean said, along with Soleares! LOL!

Sorry Mean....I couldn't resist, seriously, LGCs are top notch smokes, consistant and very smooth and tasty. I'm particular to the Wavell maduros but they are all worthy, IMFO.

Yep, Series "R" it is. What ever you do "Don't Bid On Them...They really are bad, bad, bad cigars. This is all a ploy by the customer service personnel to jack the price up... =)

Sorry, Steve, Trish, Steve and Kevin - had to take a shot at you all to see if you are still reading the board.

Regards,

What a great smoke! It HAS to be part of your stock. I am especially partial to the Series R #6-7 Maduro's. Fat ring with wonderful sweet/spicy white smoke. I actually smoked one on the way to watch the Ravens (Baltimore) play and was late for the kickoff because I couldn't bear to part with it only half way smoked! They do get better with about 2-3 months storage. One of my regular smokes.

But.... Don't bid on them here... That will leave more for me to bid on!

hehehe

The only La Gloria's I think are good are the "Made to Order" versions. These cigars are hand picked by Ernesto and then aged for an additional year. These are smooth and flavorful, and all of th bitter/bite is gone.

I have tried many of the rest of the line, and they are not part of my inventory.

I'm with Mr Mean on this one ... what ARE you guys waiting for ??? I didn't think there was anyone who'd smoked cigars for longer than a week or two that hadn't picked up on LGCs ...

Serie R, maddie ... damn fine smoke ... got a few in the humi and might just have to pull one out after thinking of how good they are ...

Smoked a La gloria Cubana a couple of days ago. I was resting for about six months. It was a corona. Smooth, good aroma, great flavor, a damn good smoke. Especially for the price on Cbid!

Have to agree with everyone else. The regular line is good with some age. Serie R is good right away. I don't recommend the El Rico Habano though. Lit one up the other day and took a long drag off of it. Yes I said drag because drag is what you do to a cigarette, and that is exactly what this putrid smoke tasted like. Had it in the humi for about 4 months and was looking forward to it. Instead, I suffered through about an inch, hoping that it would get better. It never did. I save all the bands from cigars that I smoke, but I tossed this one out the car window with the band on it, and good riddance. The worst part is that I have three more in the box staring at me.

Calavera, you are going to get a lot of offers for those 3 ERH. As for LGC, as good as any cigar near its price and better than most. I have a bunch of different LGC in my humi, and always will. Highly recommended.

The Series R in Maduro are on my top ten list... IF you enjoy cigars, and OBVIOUSLY you do, because you're reading this :-) do yourself a flavor and buy some of the R Madies. Put them to bed... Wake them up after some time. The change in mine was remarkable. When new, they were good, but strong. When rested, they were in a word, kick ass!!

Sorry you had a bad experience with the ERH (are they the Habano Clubs?). I actually enjoy them...so if you want to part with them, email me what you would be willing to trade.

The LGC has long been one of my favorites and the Serie R is about as good as a cigar can be! Serie R is fuller and a little more spicy with wonderful lingering tastes! They are beautifully made and well worth the investment!

Ditto all accolades on the Serie R. Specifically the 4 and 5. Especially good after resting.

calavera, where those El Ricos in cello? The new "naked" in the box ERHs are incredible. I too didn't care for the cello variety as I think they were before this new blend. Then again, each has their own taste in smokes.
