As I watched Al Gore a few minutes ago make his concession speech, I enjoyed (Yum!) my last ISOM Montecristo #4 that has been aging in my 'dor for the last eight months..What a great smoke!...Nonetheless, I pondered a very important question while watching the speech: "What great cigar will I enjoy on Inauguration Day?"...YES!!!!!...Bout time!

Let's be fair to our Democratic brothers here on C-bid. Al Gore's concession speech was very impressive. I realize that it wasn't easy for him. I gained a little respect for him in the way he graciously conceded. I just wish that he had done it weeks ago. Good luck, Al. Congratulations to George W. (the man!!)

It was very classy for him to graciously concede the way he did (although IMHO it was somewhat later than I believe he should have)..I have some new found respect for Al and I'm sure he perhaps will be one of the GOP's future competitors for the Presidency in four or eight years (although I'm hoping he decides against it..LOL)

Yeah, Gore looked natural, but how long has he been practicing?

Well said, everyone. Gore was gracious, and his speech tonight was actually the first time I've heard him speak with true sincerity. Bush was definitely "Presidential". The bipartisan speeches given tonight were exactly what our country needed to hear. I truly have hope that through all this we really can see a joining of sides to resolve issues and fix serious problems we face today. (That is, if we can keep people like Jesse Jackson from raising hell.)

Gore gracious.........well he cost me a lot of money in the stock market and especially toward my retirement. Yes the speech was humble but it should have come after the 2nd recount. I still think he has damaged his hopes in 2004. But I am Republican so I don't really care. No offense to the Democrats here but this could have saved the working class alot of money if it had been sooner.

I am amazed at the remarks about AG being sincere in his concession speech and all that rot. The damage he has done to this great nation is only rivaled by his daddy, Clinton. I swear the older I get I am convinced there should be only one party in this country and that is the Republican Party! Long live President George W. Bush and I could care less if I never saw AG again or heard his dispicable name spoken as long as I live!

Ya know, after thinking on this a few days, I think you (last few posts) have got something there. I do believe Robo-Gore seemed almost human in his speech, but we've got to remember the events leading up to this. I think he knew he HAD to deliver that kind of speech to salvage his future. AND I think his speech and the general attitude coming from Democrats is their last effort to inject their agenda into the scene, even though they lost. If they come across as willing to shake hands and reach agreement, all they're really doing is attempting to force Republicans, who are now victorious, to surrender their more-conservative approach. If Republicans go forward with their conservative agenda, I believe Democrats are putting themselves in a place where they can say "See, we were willing to compromise, but THEY'RE not!" Don't let your guard down, America!

While I applaud GW's sense of decency, I truly don't think he sounded very humble (IMHO). I think he said what he had to because that's what he was told to say. I also believe that the Republican's won't be getting very much done in the next 4 years, there are just too many angry voters as well as angry polititians. A recent CNN poll concluded that 54% of the country didn't think the Florida vote was counted fairly (hey, its not MY fault). That's alot of people, people. I still see a continued struggle across party lines that ain't going to go away anytime soon. The last 6 political years have been spent putting up walls. Anger doesn't just doesn't dissipate or go away in the breath of a 5 minute speech. What I am looking forward to is seeing what, if anything gets done. Just for a minute, take a look at how the people on just THIS site responds to differing political views. Now imagine how the rest of the country feels. My hope is that our country doesn't go down the crapper because of this mess.

Too political. Light up a smoke and go to the political board for responses here, folks.
