So I got some friends who are going to London for a week starting tomorrow. If I wanted them to pick me up a box, what brands would any of you suggest, and how much $ should I expect to pay for them>? Are Monte Cristo #2 that good? Any other choices? How is the best way to get them home? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!! Mike

Bolivars. Expect to pay way too much in London. Mail them home.

Get a box of Partagas Serie D No 3 Edicion Limitada or a box of Romeo y Julietta Edicion Limitada Robustos. They are slightly cheaper than a lot of the regular production smokes, and are much better. However, in England you will still pay out the rear for Cuban cigars.

calavera --- slightly cheaper than a lot of the production smokes?

In London, expect to pay $478.85 per box for the Partagas Serie D No. 3 Limited Edition Maduro, and $393.50 for the Romeo y Julieta Robusto Limited Edition Maduros ...

If you decide to mail them home, I would have your friend put them in a domestic cigar box, and put the bands in his wallet ... it's a fairly big risk and that is the only safe way to do it!

NEVER just bring them home on the airplane in their original box. With the security issues going on now ... they swab the inside of every piece of luggage (even bags checked-in) for explosive residue ... you know they will be found.

Email me at slimboli(at)yahoo(dot)com and I will send you an internet site in London that carries every brand (and rates them too), and it will give you the prices you should expect to pay ... if you are willing to take the risk.

DO NOT BRING THEM HOME ON THE PLANE! Sorry for the yelling, I had to get my point across. Customs was stopping almost everyone in Chicago when I came home from Dublin. They went through ALL my stuff. My friend got lucky and breezed through..very lucky. Mail them back home. It cost me ten euros to "mail a book home for someones B-day ;)

Slim: according to the price list that I saw last, the prices for a box of EL robustos was about ten dollars less than a box of regular robustos. Of course these prices were the list prices for boxes at the Partagas store in Havana, but the last time I was at Thomas Hinds in Winnipeg, the EL's on the shelf were slightly less per stick than the other similarly sized Habanos.
