RDC,

Why do you think Cuba should disarm? They are a sovereign nation, haven't lost any wars (which is why Iraq has to disarm, remember), and aren't threatening their neighbors. So why is it the pot calling the kettle black? That is a serious charge. Wonder what your reasoning is.

Fidel has been pretty ruthless, but as dicators go, he is no Mao or Stalin or Pol Pot. You might remember that the guy he overthrew was no Mary Poppins either, and Havana was basically run by the mob when Castro came down from the hills. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Ahem. Even with Echick as your reactionary cheerleader, you miss the point completely. I was trying to make a disanalogy, to show how the Iraq case is completely unrelated to any in Cuba.

Iraq is not being disarmed because we don't like them. They are being disarmed because they lost the war in '91, and this is the terms of cessation of war. Maybe you didn't know that.

Cuba has not lost a war to us, unless you want to do some stupid reach back in history and invade and disarm Cuba on the basis of something from 1898. I'd love to see someone argue that, and you are just reactionary and irrational enough to do it.

Touche'? Not quite.

What have I failed to live? And how does that make my thoughts less important? Did I need to go to war to have an opinion on foreign policy?

Or maybe you meant something else?

So by surrendering the ENTIRE island to us...they weren't at war with us. They never fired a single shot? Do the "Rough Riders" mean anything to you.

WAKE UP! You're missing REALITY!

fyi, I have a degree in history, I read a lot of biographies of world historical figures, read history books regularly for leisure, so quit the bull**** about me not knowing about history, ok? It was stupid to begin with, but your facts about me are just plain wrong. Especially when it comes to Cuba, a country about which I actually know a lot.

usahog...are you under the impression that the Bay of Pigs debacle led to a UN agreement to disarm Cuba? I hope not. It was a terrible moment in the cold war. Not the same as the Iraq situation at all.

Let me spell out my point for you, since you two don't seem to get it.

1. Iraq must disarm because it lost the Gulf War. Those were conditions of that war.

2. There is no agreement or demand that Cuba disarm. If there is, please let me know. And let Cuba and the UN know, while you're at it.

3. If there is no demand that Cuba disarm, and there is one that Iraq disarm, then the two are not in the same boat.

4. If the two are not in the same boat, then there is no sense to 'the pot calling the kettle black,' or whatever. That's my point.

Make sense?

John

ps: DMV, the homophobic stuff is seriously out of line. I hope everyone can agree with that. No different than racism, my friend, and has no place here in political debate. Seriously out of line.

Castro=blood thirsty dictator/Saddam=blood thirsty dictator.Castro ironically tells Saddam to disarm even though he(Castro)once tried to arm himself with nuclear missles via the Soviet Union=Pot calling the kettle black. It's really not that hardto see John once you open your mind.As for claiming to be an expert on Cuban history you sure aint showing it brother!.

Of course maybe Castro is sincere in telling Saddam to disarm because he personally knows what is about to happen to him.Hmmmmmmmmm?...LOL

You know a little more about Cuba than you do history, philosophy and socio-economics Put together! That's only because you've smoked a Cuban cigar!

jjohnson,

My point (for the third time): NO ONE IS ASKING CUBA TO DISARM. It is not the mid-60s, you know.

Are you suggesting we are going to invade Cuba next? And you'd support such a thing? Christ, that is the most insane thing I've ever heard. I don't even think crackheads like Rumsfeld dream up **** like that.

DMV, making a crack about adult sex toys is hardly the same as homophobia. In fact, I hope everyone uses sex toys, for the record; the more pleasure the better. Who could object to that? (Surely someone will now post on the immorality of vibrators). Homophobia, however, is serious. People are assaulted and threatened everyday because they love someone of the same sex. That is serious ****. No one is getting beaten and discriminated against because they use a vibrator (so I don't think; inform me if there is a widespread phenomenon of vibrator-bashing, please!). Not the same.

So THAT's what you call it! I thought it was called self-gratification...silly me!

And, like, OMG! How did you know that my middle names were "reactionary cheerleader"??? Huh? Like, for sure! You're awesome!

Give me a V-I-B-O!

Alright!

God bless the ISOM...
