For some time I have had a problem with humidor accessories staying glued to the humidor. I have some that attach with velcro, where the velcro won't stay on the wood, and I also have some with magnets where the magnet won't stay glued to the wood, or the steel plate won't stay glued to the accessory. What are your recommendations for glue that won't hurt the wood or more importantly the cigars.

I don't know how to describe the fasterner I got from Radio Shack, but it's not velcro. It looks like small plastic interlocking thingymabobber with an adhesive backing. I've not had any problems with it. It supports my digital hygrometer in my desktop humi just fine. I've also used it in my Otterbox for holding small oasis doohickies (I've since removed the oasis doohickies and use humipouches in my Otterbox--works much better).

It sounds like you have some wax or oil on the wood. Get some new velcro with adhesive backing. Rough up a small area with course sandpaper, just enough to mount your stuff. Then clean the area that you will be attaching it to with alcohol or acetone. Leave the lid up and let it dry completely until the smell is gone. Attach your velcro to that spot. If that doesn't work try a 10 penny nail.

If you want, take a small stapler and staple your velcro down. Both mine in my new humi are stapled down.
No glue, no mess. It came that way. It is worth the try, you can get those mini staplers at the store for few bucks.....

Little dab of PL400 construction adhesive....**** will glue water together!

Burnishing the wood in the spot to attach, then cleaning with alcohol before sticking the velcro on might also work.

10d nail would definately work!

I've used regular old super glue, and it hasn't hurt my gars. Remember, a little dab'll do ya! If you just use a tiny amount (a small little dot) it will stay put and it shouldn't smell up the interior.

Have you tried suction? I like suction. Of course, that has nothing to do with your humidor, can't help you there...

Thanks guys. I tried the 10d nail, and it worked like a charm. Actually, I used 4 nails and bent the edges over that protruded through the lid. This made nice lifters, and I can also hang my CB match boxes from them. However, I am now having a problem holding humidity. I thought I would use plumbers putty around the nails. Any other suggestions? Maybe I'll just pull the nails, seal the holes, and use the PL400 construction glue, or the Super glue.

Robby, actually suction is a pretty good idea. Then I wouldn't care if the darn humidifiers fell off the lid.

Thanks RCK, this sounds like the best idea yet. And no, it wasn't the new humi, but I have to tell you there is a certain rustic charm of a humi with nails protruding through the lid.
