Big, Long, and difficult to enjoy?

I've had the distinct pleasure last week and this to be at home without much to do but love my wife and baby. It's been very relaxing despite the sleep deprivation.

With my time, and the exceptionally mild weather here in Atlanta, I've had the chance to enjoy a number of my fine fine cigars. I'm currently having an Avo Maduro. Some sort of Churchill. It's Big, Long and most definitely enjoyable. But, it raises a question, many of us in the day to day hustle and bustle don't have the time to sit and contemplate our navel for 2 hours + while enjoying a hauss like this. I do like them bigger and longer (that was softball), but sometimes the schedule doesn't permit. So what do most of you like in terms of ring and length? Personally, I prefer about a 5.5 to 6 x 52 give or take. If I don't finish it, I try to have at least a third to a half.

I've cut down on my larger cigar buying to almost none at all. However,I like a good big cigar on occasion. I'll sit back and watch a good sports event and enjoy a big cigar. My favotite size of cigar as of late is cigars in the Cuban Corona size. To me this is the perfect size. X

I prefer the robusto size due to the thickness. I like fat cigars and like the longer ones as well, but like everybody else I usually do not have the time to enjoy them for two hours and I have to cut one off short. 5" x 52 is good for me.

I smoke mainly robustos but I have a large variety of sizes for any time lot.

I tend to smoke the smaller sizes during the day.

I'm not a big fan of the churchill size. I prefer a nice robusto, 5.5 x 50. I did just get some of those Cuban Parejo Maduros (4.7 x 60!) that I can't wait to try.

I only smoke a few a week, so I usually allow enough time to finish my cigar. I sometimes smoke coronas and panatellas, but usually perfer a larger ring cigar.
I enjoy toro's, belicoso's, churchill's and double coronas. Usually stay 6 to 7-1/2" x 48 - 52 ring. Although I have many robusto's for something a "little" quicker smoke.
I seem to get more flavor from a larger ring 'gar.

Penguin13, I hope you have a better experience than I did. About a year ago I purchased one Cuban Parejo Maduro and I thought It was the worst dog rocket I ever had. Maybe it was my inexperience with the maduro at the time.

back to the post, my fave is Robusto, 50 x 6, but do occasionally get the hanker for a 38x4 for a quick but enjoyable smoke

Penguin, the Parejos are great cigars. The only critique I have is that they are somewhat inconsist with the draw, but I don't mind that much.

Cruiser, torpedo is a shape as opposed to a size. Typically, torpedos are in the range of 5.5 to 6 with a 50 or 52 ring, is that what you meant? This is my favorite too!

While I smoke all sizes, I think I like the toro best--it combines qualities of the bigger smokes with a bit shorter burning time.

Whew! I thought you might be referring to Dennis Rodman...has anyone ever enjoyed him?

I'd have to say ditto to Lowman's answer...but I do smoke more than a few a week. Well, most weeks.

My ideal size is that of the Padron 3000 (5.5" x 52). I wish they made more cigars that are 5.5" long; I sometimes feel that robustos are too short, yet a toro is just a tad long. Just my thoughts.

i have a variety of sizes but find that i have been gravitating to coronas and cuban coronas lately. i think the slightly smaller ring gauge allows more wrapper flavor to come thru.

I usally seem to end up with a corona when I'm around the house. When fishing or time permits, I'll go for a churchill or coroan gorda. My usual short time smoke is the Padron Delicias, fits my schedule.

I smoke all sizes. On the weekend, larger smokes. Evenings during the week, smaller ones. Lunch time everyday at work, I'll have a petit CAO, maduro or cammie.

I seldom smoke anything smaller than a 50 ring. Lately I've been smoking a lot of the bigger (55-60) size sticks. I don't smoke during the day except on weekends and I generally have time to burn a 6 x 50 after dinner. When I only have time for a quick smoke I prefer short stories.

I have all sizes in my humidor. When time is short, I prefer the robusto. However, when time is no problem, I enjoy my very most favorite size the 7x47. Yes the classic churchill. If cubans are in short supply then 7x50 or 7xwhatever will do.

Usually, I prefer cigars of 50 ring gauge or less down to 42 or so. The length depends on the time available. On the golf course, in the bar, at the fishing hole it's usually churchills or HdM double coronas. I also find myself smoking more coronas and robustos as everyday smokes. The HdM "Super Hoyo" oscuro is a favorite smaller smoke for me.

Prefer anything from a 42-54 and length coincides with the amount of time I have to burn one. I also find I prefer the 42-46 ring for Havanas; they just seem to pack more flavor than the larger ring, IMHOOC.

well, Cuban Corona size (46x5.62), Torpedo (6x52) or Toro (6x50-52) are my usual go-to sizes.

they seem to be the nice compromise for time vs size for me.......
