Hey Puff,
I'm no expert but I have done alot of research myself.
1. I have always read 70 degrees and 70% humidity, but europeans, especially the british, tend to keep their humidity closer to 65%.
2. I have had luck smoking straight out of the humidor, but if the draw is tight, leaving it in a dry box overnight, before smoking, may improve the draw. I have come across many cigars that time in the dry box improved the draw.
3. Could be both. Another culprit can be the smoker. If you smoke a cigar too fast this can happen with even the best constructed cigars.
4. It really depends on the price range. I have many smokes, that I enjoy on a daily basis. But the premiums always are calling from the humidor.
My top ten, money is no object, cigars are as follows:
1. OPUS X Belicoso the only one I have ever smoked of this line.
2. A.F. Masterpiece, I have a weakness, for all things Fuentes.
3. A.F. Anejo Shark, mmmmmmmm mmmmm good.
4. C.A.O. Anniv.Extreme that will put lead in the old pencil.
5. A.F. anything sungrown, my favorite Fuentes wrapper.
6. Perdomo squared Milenaro, got a 5 pack here reasonable, but elsewhere kinda pricey. Am smoking one as I type this, but don't do it on an empty stomach.
7. Excaliber 1066 Lancelot, Large smoke, gotta make time for this one. Goes really good with a glass of Glendranoch 15yr.
8. Ashton VSG any size, haven't had a bad one yet.
9. Indian Tabac Cameroon legend. These are new to me but a great smoke none thwe less.
10. Last, but not least, C.A.O. Crillo. Only had one of these, so I almost didn't put this one on the list, but the one I had was great.
Hope this was some help.
