Why did cigars have bands on them to start with?

Men of distinguish years ago wore white gloves. Fine cigar makers started putting bands onto the cigars in order to prevent tobacco from staining their fingers. Some marketing guru saw the opportunity to advertise products on these previously blank bands. Then the cigar manufacturers themselves started putting their own name and/or logo onto the band to gain market recognition. OR it could have been a way to hold the thing together until the vegetable glue dried. Kind of a precursor to duct tape....

a+ Does duct tape work better than scotch tape? Where are the rest of you posters. Please join in and forget the IMHO. No humble opinions please. You opinions are as valuable as anyone's. Let's here solid, "I know what is good, and if you don't agree, too bad"

bands were created for Catherine the Great who was a cigar smoker, and bands were made for her so she didn't have to touch the cigar.

The story goes: A newly wed wife getting ready to go to bed with her husband on their wedding night was putting on rubber gloves. The husband asked why to which she responded "I have been told I might have to touch it."

Actually, the newlyweds need to work out a code. For instance, when the woman wants to have sex, she could pull on his **** one time. If she doesn't want to have sex, she could pull 100 times...

Duct tape works much better at noise elimination than scotch tape. Try taping a captives moth shut with scotch tape,

If it might take 31, I'd hate to have her stop at 30...

nevermind cigars, why would a captives' MOTH need squelching? What kind of scary-ass butterfly needs to be silenced? !!!
