How Long Should I Wait ???

Greetings All,

I am seeking advice. I have debated writing this note for some time and reluctantly write it today.

As most of you know I pride myself in timeliness and always try to give more than I get when trading.

I sent 5 of my "Ole Dried Up Dog Rockets" to a member of this board and two bonus sticks on 12 Feb 03.

To date, I have not received my end of the deal.

I contact him "occasionally" to inquire into the status of our trade, as I don't want to come off as an A$$. He seems to be truly genuine in his responses and it appears that he has made many successful trades within our community.

My concern is that it has been 6 weeks...

Any Suggestions??

Regards,

B

No cheesecake for him/her.

Make a few more posts with different Subject lines, but with the same text/question in each.

The squeeky wheel gets oiled.

Damn BS; what did I leave out? OK; I'll get that cheesecake in the mail tomorrow!

That's too bad especially with a trader on this board. I've not traded with anyone like that thus far, but if it's not a legit excuse, then we all should know. I damn sure don't want to wait 6+ weeks unless it is a dire excuse.

Hey Billy,

We did a trade around 2/12 or so... If you haven't received ANY of my packages, please let me know, BUT I'm pretty sure that you acknowledged receipt of all of mine.

Just checking...

B,

Sometimes its tough making the time to find the sticks and getting to the Post Office, it does take time, but 7+ weeks is a worry.

Maybe Slim has some thoughts on the subject?

Billy-

Would this be one of my SNAFU's?

If so, PLEASE blurt it out. Sometimes I don't take hints too well. I know we had two trades, one right after another, but I thought I got them both out.

The US mail can do funny things. I recently made a trade and the cigars I sent were MIA for over two weeks. Not be construed as a "scumbag", I promptly sent a whole box of desired smokes and apologized for my smokes that didn't arrive. Wouldn't ya know, a few days after my second mailing arrived the first one shows up (about three weeks late). Sh*t happens I guess. Needless to say, communication is a must. I also beleive that you are still responsible regardless of the perils of our postal service. Good deeds never go unrewarded. Danny from Michigan proved that true as he bombed my sorry ass back with a box of his own.

Smith brings up a good point. There are innumerable posts extolling the virtues of those who literally deserve canonization! Their generosity, selection, and dedication to detail in packing and promptness all enumerated ad-nauseam.

However, there's no similar post to the converse? How do we know who to shun? I say if a man wrongs you, and you've forgiven him 70 x 7 (i.e., waited 6 weeks?) then verily I say un to you, say the name that all may see and abrade them, yeah excoriate them accordingly...

(oh btw, you'll get your damn cigars when you get them! I've been busy!! ;-)

smithbw.. I would ask/tell him straight up...
"what's the problem"?.

You say he's a regular here and has a good rep..

The ones I worry about would be one that's a newbie
and just disappears.. JMHO.

I feel like an idiot.

Was contacted by the person in question and he was not happy!! He just returned from a business trip and was not aware of the fact that I had not received my end, which he mailed 12 Mar. Of course, we all know the Postal systems reliability or should I say the lack thereof…

Anyway - to prove what I already knew - that he was a stand up guy, he emptied his entire humidor and mailed me all of his premium sticks registered mail.

Like I Said - I Fell Like an Idiot!!!

I should have waited longer!

Are you guys using Parcel Post to save $2? He shipped March 12,after a month had passed since your deal began? Huh? Jeez,I feel sleazy if it takes me five days to get a package shipped, like if I forget the P.O. is closed on a Monday.

Spend the extra $.45 for delivery confirmation and use Priority Mail.

Ken speaks the truth! Priority Mail is the only way to go! Usually to/from any major city in the cont usa is 3-4 days tops! Out of the way areas maybe add a day or two more!

Sound advice.

ken and peter:

Have either of you traded with Billy before?
He is in Germany and you ship to an APO. There is no delivery confirmation to an APO. The only way to get a return receipt on delivery is through certified mail which is as much as $8 more.
Although the P.O. is pretty dependable - in times of war shipping to Europe even through an APO can take substantially longer. (2-3 weeks sometimes)

pgatour00,

Seek the advise of the man himself. There are things to do that make sure the package gets to him.

FYI, I usually just use 1st class mail, it take a few extra days, but it does get there. I have never lost a package. But sometimes poop happens.

Luck...
