I'm not exactly what you would call "anal" about cleanliness, but I do take normal precautions.
I wash my vegetables and fruits before consumption, and I even wipe off the top of the soda/beer can prior to drinking.
Why is it, then, we all feel so comfortable putting a cigar in our mouth ? These are, afterall, made almost exclusively in third world countries where the "Board of Health" is nothing more than the shelf that the asprins are kept.

I always wash my hands before putting a cigar in my mouth! Seriously, we stick a bundle of leaves in our mouths and set fire to it. We then suck the fumes into our mouths and slowly exhale them so we can enjoy the odor. The wrapper is the least of our worries!

Low

Maybe.... It's just me... hmmmm... no wonder I have a hard time lighting them...

Bet there's no "employees much wash hands" sign in the restrooms either.

Guess that's where some cigars get their "saltiness" and "nutty" flavors from.

Bud,

We can do without those salty and nutty comments!!

BLLAAAHH! Just thinking about that! Thanks! Now I might have to give up my cigar for the day, or at least until I can get this image out of my mind!!!!

All cigars are loaded with untold amounts of germs. Send me all your cigars for proper testing and/or disposal. X

All the germs are eaten by the cigar beetles before they die...that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Hey Low, If you want to save some time washing your gars, only smoke in the shower. You also save water and soap. The only problem is I can't figure out how to keep the drain from pluging up.

Lets take this subject one step further. Hell with dirty hands. These are third world nations with a higher AIDS populations. What if one of these rollers has it and happens to cut his or her finger with the
cutters they use.

True, we are inhaling burning bundled leaves.
But that's OK.
Fire kills everything. That's why when you drop a burger, it's alright to put it back on the grill.

I'm talking specifically about the cap of the cigar.

And yes I do know that the virus has a short life span out side the body. But what about other viruses?

Fire does not kill the germs where you put your mouth.

You can always dip the end of your gar in whiskey or scotch. I sometimes do that just for a small hint of it ;)

I hear the less experienced rollers do a lot
of licking to repair bad rolls when the floor boss
isnt lookin'.. think of that the next time you
experience an "odd" taste on the wrapper...

Let's see if I undestand all of this.

We have salty, nuts covered with dried blood of a possible Aids or other viral life form, being eaten by beatles set ablaze to ensure we enjoy the dried spit at the end.

You forgot the "twang" that often accompanies those coveted ISOMs. It comes from the sweat on those big babes as they roll the cigar on their massive thighs with their palms. Yeah BABY!

if you will just smoke bad frogs, none of this will matter.

to protect the smoker against soiled wrappers, they put the binder around the wrapper for extra protection.

cello on, cello off, it really doesn't matter, except the cello does tend to flair up with each puff.

That's the exact reason, anytime I put a cigar in my mouth, I immediately rinse my mouth with a sip of 12 year old Macallan.

Kills everything that's not good for ya!

I remember a post that highlighted a fellow that would lick the cigar up and down, smoke half, then eat the rest (or something to that effect). Can't shake the picture that painted.

Sorry I didn't respond to this post right away. I just took a load of Opus X out of the washer and stuck them in the dryer. I like to use those Bounce softener sheets to make them smell more like a Lars ...

No joke, a friend just found a 5 inch hair in a hand rolled cigar.

Hey, at least it wasn't a curly one.

Just tried wrapping my cigar in one of those "for your protection" sheets from the mens room. Tasted funny, medium to full-bodied. Maybe I should'a used a new one??
