While I'd like to agree that it is just more left winged tripe, Frontline did a program about the history of Sadam Hussein recently, and they tied into the same theme. Essentially, the undersecretary of war in this administration (Wolfowitz - who's considered to be an extreme hawk) wrote a thesis (which was drafted many, many years earlier) which was used as the glue to support this same argument/concept, and of course, the same parallels to the present situation were made.

Coincidence? One can only wonder, but being a moderate, I think I'll err on the side of caution, and say that once this Iraq thing is over, the US should limit its involvement to assisting NATO (not the UN)in keeping the region safe until a new government is in place. At that point, good bye. Otherwise, I do believe the Imperialist argument (trying to reform the entire region would fail miserably) has some merit (not to mention some real, if not apocalyptic, potential consequences).

A fascinating article. Is it plausable that this war could be part of a bigger agenda? Is it so far-fetched to think that our government is not showing all it's cards?
