My question is probably a very easy one for someone to answer, I know that when you get cigars with the plastic protective sleve that they sould be removed from the covering before storing them in your huimidor right, but what about the glass tubes that some brands are coming in is it just a shipping thing and i sould remove them from these tubes to age properly or just leave them alone??? Any help with this question would be greatly appreciated.

Check out the archives for numerous answers...My opinion is that they can be stored in the sealed tubes for a month or two, but I would remove the cigar from the tube and put it (the cigar, not the tube..LOL) into your humidor for longer than a month.

Good question. If the tube is outside of a humidor, then a month or so should be the maximum allowed. If it is to go into your humidor it can be left as long as any other cigar. Reasoning is that if the moisture is "leaking out" then it will also "leak into" the tube. This, of course, assumes the smoke is properly humidified to begin with. If you assume it to be dry, then remove it for proper resusitation...

NO, no no. Do not remove the plastic wrap before storing them in your desktop humidor.

Kepping the cigar in the celophane wrapper is one of the oldest debates going. i say remove it, it looks better. some say keep it, it protects the cigar while in your humidor. bottom line it it is your choice.

BUT, the tubes. If you plan on aging the cigar for any length of time remove it from the tube. Leaving the cigar in a sealed environment will not give the cigar an ability to breath prooperly and the exchange of gasses will not occur. While aging tobacco one particular gas given off is amonia, ever had a box that smells like pee? the pee smell is good to a point. you want the air to be able to exchange so that the amonias and other gases can escape freely. if you want, just break the seal on the tube and put it in your humidor, or remove the tube completly. but do not leave the cigar in that tube for more than two or three months.
