I thought that I would share with you all an email between Robert Spoden from Bucanero's and me reference a few gars for our Warriors. I will be upfront and honest about his response - It Blew Me Away!!!

Hold On and get ready to see the man behind Bucanero's.

Here it is:

Robert, I have been receiving and distributing cigars to the deploying soldiers from the 1st Armor Division 2nd Brigade. Recently received a box of La Gloria Cubana's from Ernesto himself and a signed picture to our troops. Today, I received two boxes of Puro Indios along with a signed picture from Rolando Reyes. In addition, Cbid/CI has donated a box of gars in support of our Warriors as well.

I was wondering if the World Famous Buccaneers would like to make a small donation to our deploying Warriors. In return, I will provide pics of our Warriors receiving the smokes.

Best Regards,

B

Robert's Response:

Billy,

I need to know what address to send a couple boxes to.
Full Address, ph#, Proper name..etc...

Years ago I was drafted into the army during the Viet Nam war. As a young man of 19 years old I never knew what life had in store for me. When I went overseas and left behind America I felt like my whole world was
changing so fast and questioned would I ever see my Family and friends, dog and my girl friend again.

Then the mail started arriving each week. Mail call was so special. It was my bridge back home. But only a few people wrote to me on a weekly basis. I often wondered way some of my friends never took the time to drop me a line. It pi$$ed me off!

When I got back home I realized that everyone was so damn caught up in their lives that they forgot what a little compassion will do. You only get one chance in
life to reach out and tell someone you care. After thoughts don't cut it!

Now I'm 54 years old and these young guys must be going through the same cycle of thought. It's about caring and its about getting off your a$$ and doing what is right.

Thanking these warriors who are putting their lives on the line for our freedom is such a simple gesture. But one that is only so important.

Lets get these warriors some Bucanero's. Let them have a moment out there in that desert..savoring a gift..that builds a little bridge back home in their
minds...

God bless them all!

Robert Spoden
President
Bucanero Cigars

Every time I read his response I get those goose bumps...Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

Regards,

B

People wonder why I rave about Bucanero. This leaves NO doubt as to what they're doing as a company!

If you haven't given this brand a try, then you're seriously missing out! A class act, from the top down! Everything about them is based on trust.

Awesome...absolutely awesome. Many of my coworkers had to go to Desert Storm and Afghanistan...some are still waiting for the call.

They said that even though many didn't smoke, cigars were a heavenly break from the fighting, they made an exception. The most popular guys on the front were those with a box full of cigars. The logistical problem was actually getting the cigars as far forward as you would like.

Most ended up getting consumed by greedy supply offices stateside. Some that made it out of the states were consumed by rear area mf's. Just a few trickled to the front lines , where they were intended to go.

During Desert Storm, my office sent care packages to our coworkers in the campaign. Some were well picked through, some arrived in good order, some didn't arrive at all.

I hope the system works better now and these cigars get to where they are intended instead of some supply Sgt's humidor at Travis AFB CA.

I knew from the start that Robert and the people at Bucanero were a stand-up organization from the time I spoke with Robert as an ambassador until now.

Class act all throughout the company. This is one brand that will forever have a place in my humi. And on top of all that, it's just a damn good cigar!

I agree rayder; I too hope that our smokes get to those brave men/women in the field up on the front lines.

Thanks smithbw. You're quite a class act yourself. I'm working on a second salvo...

Class. Nothing but PURE class. Robert's response brought a tear to my eye and sensibility to my brain.

ROBERT: Consider me a lifelong Bucaneer from here forward. Your product will get my $ before others do.

Fantastic. I have had the pleasure of meeting Robert and his lovely wife. They are stand up people and really care about producing great product. It is no surprise to me that he stepped up and answered your request not only with cigars, but with a compassionate response.

Kudos to you for reaching out to him on behalf of our troops!!!

Billy,

That is just an amazing response! Times of trouble bring the real deal out of people. It is clear to me these companies are run by some true gentlemen.

Many thanks to them, and to you, for sending some part of home, to the men and women so far away from theirs.

God bless them all, and safe home.

Fantastic my friend! You are really a great man to go out of your way and approach the company like that!
And what a guy Robert is to help out this way.
Let him know that us morons sitting at our computers really appreciate his generosity to our boys. I have to take my hat off to you both.

Now with that out of the way...

Waht can I say that hasn't been said before now! These are great and giving people who are showing some damn fine support and care for our men in uniform. Having been there, done that, it makes you feel goosebumps when you read the posts above.

On a side note, saw a Navy Seal team in one of those fast boats they use and the driver had a cigar in his mouth!

God Bless our Troops and those who send their love and support, whether it be with gifts, emails, letters or prayers.
