This is for the bird lovers here. I know there are a few of you.
This is a Blue & Gold McCaw. His name is Barney. He is in his mid twenties, and can live over 80 yrs.
He eats fruits, vegetables and pellet food.
Barney is nearly 2ft tall, from head to the tip of his tail. Barney talks too.
He is friendly, but is never held by hand. McCaws are very powerful birds. He could do serious damage if he wanted to.
These birds are not endangered.

Beauty of a Macaw Mag. I've got a friend that just got a Hyacinth. It's beautiful but very, very expensive.

had a blue and gold named "makita" for 6 years. she had a problem with a sinus condition. twice a day i had to give her a shot next to the breast bone. she and i still got along and we used to sit outside, her on a small perch i made her and me laying back, but she was a little less in love with me after the two weeks with the shots.

a friend of mine used to visit and makita loved to stroke her, my friends hair. my friend had several birds and she and makita went off to the sunset. sorry to see makita go, but she went healthy.

every so often, like now, i get the reminder of hand feeding her when she was 8 or 10 weeks old.
