... About Life!

This has been making the rounds at various cigar BB's, so I thought it should make it over here also ...

1. Balance and Perspective --- To truly appreciate a fine cigar you have to stop, sit back and savor the subtle texture of the tobacco. When you are in this relaxed state you are able to gain perspective on a busy, stressful life.

2. Camaraderie --- When cigar smokers meet other cigar smokers, the normal barriers and distinctions that separate individuals seem to break down. Over cigars, there is a bonding to a larger community.

3. Having Confidence --- The act of smoking a cigar in our overly “politically correct” society defines an individual who is not timid about self-expression.

4. Living By One’s Own Rules --- A cigar smoker knows all too well that rules are only about defining and confining. Life does not come with a rulebook, which leaves us free to make up our own rules about life.

5. Appreciation --- The cigar smoker appreciates the craftsmanship of a well-made cigar and the many hands involved from seedling to cigar. Artistic gifts take many forms and are treasured as means to creating a better quality of life.

6. Importance of Rituals --- The art of preparing and lighting a cigar, the choice of drinks to accompany the smoke, and the passing out of cigars at the birth of a baby are some of the rituals created around cigar smoking. Rituals bring reassurance and structure to a life that can often feel out of control.

7. Having Fun --- Most people forget that life was never meant to be a struggle and oh, so serious 24/7/365. Relaxing with a cigar is a pleasurable experience.

8. Character vs. Image --- The cigar boom made cigar smoking “cool” and “trendy”, but true cigar smokers are not easily swayed by fashion. They know that in life, it is not your image that defines you, but your character.

9. Responsible Health --- Yes, cigar smoking comes with risks, but so does living. Moderation and accepting responsibility for one’s behavior are important elements in a balanced life.

10. Appreciate Little Moments --- Life throws a lot of negative things in our ways. When a cigar smoker stops to enjoy his favorite cigar, he is reminded that life also provides moments of respite to treasure.

Cigarick said, "I recommend immediate and extensive therapy."

... yeah ... I could use a session with ol' Sigmund Freud right about now ...

Then again ... one of his famous quotes was,

"Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar"
-Sigmund Frued

Great post.

I'm a newbie but I have to say the cigar crowd is really some of the best people I've had the experience of meeting. Always welcoming to this newbie and extremely generous too.

Slim, Freud would probably say that you were fixated in your anal stage of development and that you never fully resolved your Oedipus conflict.
No charge for the analysis.

(in case you were wondering I am just kidding)

Actually Freud would've said that he's fixated in the oral stage. This obsession of always putting things in your mouth. With this being the first stage it doesn't bode well for the Anal, Phallic, Latent, and Gential developmental stages!

That will be $100.00, thank you.
