I have always been a "brick and mortar" type of shopper. Not that the internet scared me, but I like browsing and touching. This site has grabbed my attention and my wallet because it isn't about "net shopping". Anyway, even though the bulk of my cigar purchases are made right here, I like to visit my local shop which happens to be a Tinder Box. WOW! Even in this "post boom" era, they are actually ABOVE RETAIL on many items! For instance, I saw Bahia Gold singles upwards of $12.95 each. CAO Oddysee was $18, and a box of Puros Indios Roths were $92!! Anybody else have no luck with local shops? For the record, the owners are great and the smokes are in perfect condition. I just can't ignore the thievery.

I love my local, Edwards Pipe and Tobacco here in Denver, they do not price gouge, Opus X sells for $10 to $14 for the torpedo. All their prices are very competetive to the internet, and a two great guys that run it. 95% of my cigar purchasese are either there or this site 95%.

tinderbox is not the same as a local cigar store where the owner has been there forever. it is a chain store with the same kind of help you will find at k-mart, target, or sears. find yourself some nice old cigar store where the owner has been there awhile and actually smokes cigars.

My local shop "Tobacco Barn" is not too outrageous, but
prices still do not compare to the net. I have also noticed that all the shops in my area tend to stick to the major names. It is very hard to pick up an off brand around here (VA). I am also continously disappointed in the availability of Opus, Ashton VSG and Padron ann. When these smokes come in they are always a 1 to 2 cigar limit per customer. So far the net and catalogue shopping rule.

My local shop has great pricing. The people that run it are not the most knowledgable, but will do the best they can to get what you want and help. For example, I get Chateau Fuentes for 2.25 each, Hemingway Signatures for 5.10, and La Unica Cameroon Robusto for 5.15.

Here in the Peoples Republic of California,It's pretty hard on some of these guys, but when I can,I'll buy a few cigars at a time from a shop I have to drive about 15 mi. to.Hi Times Tobacco and Spirits even though they charge 9.40 for VSG Robusto's.I figure it's probably about the best they can do and if i'm in a pinch I'll grab a couple. There is a shop just down the street from my place but he wants 11.50 for his VSG's and something like 15.00 to 18.00 for a padron anni. sorry buddy,he's a nice enough guy but lets get real here.
