President Bush plans to make history today by landing in a small plane on a moving aircraft carrier hundreds of miles from shore to declare an end to the combat phase of the war in Iraq.

The White House downplayed any danger to the president, whose four-person Navy S-3B Viking anti-submarine aircraft will hook onto a steel cable after landing to prevent it from plunging off the flight deck and into the Pacific Ocean. Mr. Bush will be in the co-pilot's seat.
"He is a former pilot," White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer said of his boss, who once flew jet fighters for the Texas Air National Guard.
"For the sake of the landing, I'm sure he will be doing no piloting," the spokesman deadpanned. "Hope he's not watching today's briefing."
But later in the day, Mr. Bush playfully left open the possibility that he would take the controls of the plane.
"Never can tell what's going to kick in — the urge," he told reporters in the Oval Office. "Let me just say: Stay clear of the landing pattern."

I happened to see CNN yesterday and the reporter was teasing that they hope the pilot isn't a bolter (sp?)...why not go for 5 if you've already missed a good cable 4 times...something to that effect.

gerogie lost his flying status when he failed to show up for a routine physical that tested for drug use. i do not not believe he should be in the co-pilot seat because it would be illegal.

wait, what does that matter to him.

Rick that crap about failure to show up is bogus BS set up by liberal/democrats looking to smear GWB... I have been popped for these tests 3 months in a row, they go by SS # same as the old military random weight check that some General tossed out when his number came up 3 times in a row... he relized he had other issues pressing at the time and seen how much of a pain in the A$$ it was to drop what your doing to comply with the requirments set forth...
I'm sure like a red flag.. that when GW was back to station the first order of business was to fill the bottle!!! and if they really thought he was guilty of something they could have made him do a dna blood count instead of the cup test...

we just had a guy.. recieved deserving airman.. promoted a rank of senior... with 19 yrs service... came from prominent family.. gets popped for p-test and failed Cocain... long gone...19 yrs pi$$ed down the drain literally.... you would think when you have so much on the line with that many years and so close to retirment you wouldn't be so stupid... but then again... look at all these people who turn right around and seem to believe everything they read!!!!

Rick cries about loss of liberties when suspicious illegal foreigners are held without bail.
Yet he has accused a man based on doubt raised by a no-show.
I guess only liberal freaks are innocent until proven otherwise.

A friend of mine sat on a court martial last year for a 19-year MSgt who got popped for DUI for the FOURTH TIME!!! The guy went through counseling after the second arrest...didn't tell the AF about the third arrest, so they nailed him to the wall when they found out about the fourth. No benefits, no retirement, thanks for your 19 years of service you moron.

Rickamaven recited the anthem of those with closed minds and narrow vision. I paraphrase loosely:

"I try to read only what I believe, and when I do read something that doesn't agree with what I already believe, I don't believe it."

Based on Rick's prior postings, I know this was written tongue in cheek, but, regretfully, there are many, everywhere, who only search for information and opinions that agree with their own. Their minds are closed to anything that may disagree with their notions of truth and reality.
