Was out in the smoking room this evening communing with a La Perla Habana Classic Toro and behold, for no particular reason a smoke ring appeared. You know how you can never make them when you try and this was the best one I've ever seen. It was beautiful, a perfect circle about 3 inches in diameter. It just hung there for about 5 seconds which seemed like a long time for a smoke ring and then it moved with the gentle air current and expanded for another 5 seconds. I think it was an omen or something.

I get them occasionally on the initial puffs of certain cigars (ring comes right of the foot). The oilier the cigar the easier it is to blow them intentionally. A smoother cigar is better for it too, as my technique irritates my throat if its a rougher cigar. Who says cartoons are a bad influence, I've been practicing smoke rings since I saw Felix the cat do it when I was a kid.

How to Blow Smoke Rings

What you need: a cigar with dense smoke and a location with no breeze
1. Draw a thick puff of smoke into your mouth

2. Make a large, unstrained “O” shape with your mouth (the same shape that you would make when exclaiming “Oh!”).

3. Put your tongue on the bottom of your mouth and back to block your throat passage

4. Keeping your mouth open, move your tongue slightly and “pop” your jaw to push a little smoke out of your mouth. A smoke ring should appear. The harder the snap, the faster the ring shoots out. The key is maintaining the "O" shape.

To shoot one through another.....First, make a slow larger ring, (no snap, just slowly close the jaw while maintaining a large "O" shape.) Now before it collapses or gets out of range, snap a fast smaller one through the other.

You can also "machine gun" smaller ones by taking a large drag of smoke then hold a smal l"O" shape with your mouth and tap rapidly on your cheek with your finger.

I don't know why, but these thing will impress some drunks and most blonds.
