I've been lurking here and thought it was time say to hello.
I did my first trade with pgatour00 and it was great. He was very generous with the extras, too.

I started smoking cigars about 3 months ago when I went looking for some sticks to send a buddy of mine. Had to test them out first, of course. Now I try to squeeze 2 or 3 a day when I have the time and the weather is nice enough. Wife won't permit smoking in the house, though I love her for letting me jump into this costly hobby. I'm up to 6 humdors of various sizes, two tupperdors and two coolerdors (one for aromatics). I learned from you guys that humi time really does help new cigars.

I have nearly completed smoking one of everything Drew Estates makes. It was just a personnal challenge and I now want to experience the rest of the cigar world. This web site has been terrific to read. You all act more "real" than some of the other forums out there. This one is also much more "ACID friendly" and I stock many Drew products (though few ACIDs) that I have liked. I'd love to compare notes with other Drew smokers.

Haven't really tried any of the real "premium" cigars except the Padron Anniv. Wife bought that at the beginning of the NASCAR season to smoke when Jeff Gordon won a race. Well, I finally got to smoke that baby... nice. (I'm actually a Jimmie Johnson fan but wouldn't turn down the cigar.) I'm afraid that if I try the Opus Xs and ISOMs out there, that I wouldn't be happy with the cheaper cigars that I can afford. Got a kid starting college this year.

Wife says it's a mid-life crisis as I turned 40 recently and never smoked before. I just like variety on-hand. Many of the smokes I get from the local tobacconist are too dry for my taste and need to sit anyway. Also have to stock the Ambrosia for when the significant other is nearby and that takes a seperate humidor and cooler. I also give to friends at baseball games and out on the lake.

Any smokers near Wright-Patterson AFB? Always willing to talk cigars. I'm taking up golf as well. Darn! Maybe it IS a mid-life crisis.

I also started smoking seriously around my 40th birthday, must be something about that number. However, I didn't quite jump in with both feet like you did. You must have assembled a nice little collection in 3 months.

Greetings. Hope this doesn't mean that I'm at "mid-life" yet.

You're on, ksinger. My emails at the top. I'm a newbie on the green as well. Wife got me a set of clubs that have never hit the grass. I think she is trying to get me out of the house for some reason.

Nice to have you...

Sure there's a few here that like ACID...there's also a few here that like 'shrooms, weed, and booze...but hey! if you can handle an ACID, more power to ya!

Try the C.A.O. and Padron cigars for sure. If you like beefier cigars go for C.A.O. Brazilia line or the PAM's or 5000's mmm mmm mmm...or maybe a La Gloria Cubana Serie R...

Have fun!

Right with ya, E-Chick. Got the Brazilia Samba, 5000 maduro and several others in the humi waiting for me. The Punch Roth MM is my top pick. Trying to finish my Drew walkthrough first. Had to call all around the country to get them all, but got 66 different DE cigars to try. Just 6 to drop and I am a free man. I don't really stock any ACID line. I stock mostly Industrial Press, Natural and the Subculture. Maybe ksinger will help me finish the line with the Egg since I have two.

Dan - Email sent. Have always wanted to try the egg, but never wanted to actually buy one. I'm sure I can scare up something from my measily 1 humidor. Maybe since you've got so much storage, you could rent some to me -- my wife isn't nearly as understanding as yours and my humidor overfloweth! I've got about 35 sticks in plastic bags to keep them from drying out. Weather's clearing up -- lets play some golf!!!

JustDan and ksinger,

I'm just down 75 in the Tri-County area of Cincinnati. We all ought to get together one afternoon for a herf or something. There is a cigar tasting Thursday, April 24th from 4:00 - 7:00 PM in Mason, OH. Fonseca is the cigar of choice this day. We ought to meet if possible and put a face with the name.

C.A.O. will be featured at the tasting in May.

Send me an email at kyhuntsmanat yahoo dotcom and I can send you the specifics.

Later,
Matt

Welcome Dan...

I too must admit to enjoying an Acid "Kuba Kuba" now and again. Don't worry about those that don't like flavored cigars, this is America. Also, there is a saying that goes..."Screw it! Smoke what ya'like!" Ok, I made that up...but anyway.

On the flavored side...I am also quite fond of the Oliveros Double Corona Gold Series...nice Kelt cognac flavor on those puppies!

Anyone got any views on the Macanudo Gold Series?

I also am a big fan of Drew Estate cigars. I have sampled every cigar in the lines including the Sub-Cultures and some of the disc. ACID's are good, but I enjoy alot of the Naturals and an ambrosia or two when in the mood. What DE cigars have you yet to try?

Thanks for the welcome, all.

jimmys - I have the Egg (which I have) and two of the Mayorga Coffee Infused to try (need the international tin). I also have three La Vieja Habanas from the 1st and 2nd seasons to try out. Found an old box at a local tobaconist.

The ones I can't get are:
Ambrosia Fish (only one shop in Michigan remembers having one)
Subculture 911, Dinasty and Kindred Spirit - all discontinued.

Have you tried High Monk and Ronin from the Subculture line?

Welcome JustDanD

Hey dont go too crazy buying smokes you like as a beginner. Your taste for tobacco may change some, as you get more experienced, mine did. Others have told me the same thing.

Now if you are buying premiums, your probably ok.

Just my opinion.

I too am a huge drew estate toker! I am an "Acidman" myself. Never heard of the "subculture" ronin, and 911.
The closest to the kindred spirit is "The King". These of course are disc. Interested with corresponding with other drew fans.

Hey man, it sounds like you have tried mostly everything available from DE. I have never heard of 911 or Ronin myself. The fish I think you will find late this summer. From what I understand it is still in the developmental and marketing stage. The inter-continental tin of Mayorga's is by far my favorite, it is the only way to get the Blue Jamaican. Unfortunately I cant help with any of the disc. that you seek. I do however have access to mostly everything else. Good luck with your scavenger hunt!

webkev30/jimmys, send me an email and I'll toss ya the Ronin. It's a small stick from "another site" that I found while reasearching the others.

My tastes are changing but I'm a database analyst and find it hard to pass up all the CBid deals. :-) Had the CAO Brazilia Samba yesterday and proud to say that the room started moving on it's own at about half way through the stick. Ahh, newbie status.

Thanks man, I appreciate your assistance with my drew estate wants. I will forward you my email,as i am curious and am in need of some "Acids". What is the shape and size of the ronin? and is this a part of the "Acid" line? Someone emailed me and said there was alot of "Acids" on yahoo???? Is this true, you mean someone else has access to these fine cigars?

That is a great list. I wish that I could help with your search, but those disc. are difficult to find. I have tried almost everything on your list. I agree that Drew Estate definately puts out a good smoke. Have you ever tried a lars tetens? If you like DE, you might find Lars appealing as well. Are you interested in making a swap for that ronin. sounds like a treat...

jimmys, my man. Email me and the Ronin is yours. Can do a trade but the Ronin is kinda small and wouldn't really cover the time spent. If I had your coordinates, I would send a single missile out.

If you wanna do a trade, then we can move it over to the "trade" side.. don't want to cross the forum lines. You can list out a couple of other items and I'll see if I have them and we will go from there. I'm open to trying everything out there.

JustDan - what kind of dbase work do you do? I'm a Mngr of Dbase Mktg out in SF. Can't say I'm a huge DE fan, but I guess that's why there's so many brands...

cwilhelmi, are you offering a job? Just kidding. Couldn't leave mine.. too good. I work in TSQL with Sybase. Strickly behind the scenes stuff and let the web folks make the pretty part.

I started with the DE stuff because of the Ambrosia that I tried as my first cigar from a local shop. I like variety and DE gave that to me. Now, though, I am enjoying the variety of ALL the cigars.

Thank God for CBid. (free would be better, but this is good)

I work with SQL on Oracle everyday, as well as SAS for crunching info. I've built my own dbase to run our marketing campaigns. Unfortunately I'm laying someone off, so no job ops yet... :)
